Surnames: mead, meade, compton, stephens, stevens, burgess, elkins, hackworth, rhodes, abrell, reverend matthew mead
Looks like most of you are researching the "other" Mead family, but I wanted to jump in here and post.
My family starts off with William Mead, a 17th century Quaker, from Cecil County, Maryland. He was the father of my gggggg grandfather John Mead, married to Mary Abrell. Then, it follows down to Robert Mead & Hannah Rhodes, to Moses Mead & Mary Polly Hackworth, to Rhodes Meade & Emeriah Elkins, to John Lemuel Meade & Hester Burgess, to Alec Meade & Lindy Stephens, to Albert Richard Meade & Nellie Lee Compton.
Like so many other Mead family researchers, I'm looking for any information I can find, mostly on that patriarch, William.
Oral legacy passed down through our family lists Reverend Matthew Mead of London as our ancestor. We have nothing to prove it except that tradition.
