It seems their ages (35) in the 1910 census had to be off, showing that they were married at 13 (married 22 yrs in 1910).

I think they are indexed on 1900 Independance county Ark as William Mings 31, wife Mary J age unk, as well as their children. On the previous census page is Luesinda Lance 54, who I think is Mary's mom.

I am trying to find Cora M Means.
She lived a short life- born 1899 in Missouri and died 1918 in Missouri in the 1918 Influenza Pandemic.

She may or *may not* have been married to my paternal grandfather, Joseph Maggio-however, Joseph Maggio and Cora M Means did have one child, my father, John G Maggio who was born July 21 1917.

Please help me if you can...for this is ALL I know about my Paternal Grandmother. I have written to Jefferson City for her Death Certificate. I know Jeff City has no such listing for Cora Maggio so now I am researching under Cora Means.

I do know Cora is buried in Mt St Mary Cemetary in KCMO. Her gravestone says "Cora Maggio Mother 1900-1918." The Cemetary records only say that Maggio ---no first name---bought the plot.

Perhaps Cora's family disowned her for getting pregnant at age 17...My father's birth certificate does seem to indicate that he was born at home...but whose home?

Please advise and Thank you! By the way, I am your cousin Ruth Law Wren, daughter of Dorothy Jane Means and Woodrow Law, both deceased. It has been a while since I posted the post you responded to. In the interim, I have been lucky enough to progress far beyond the the ggg grandparents. I have been doing research on the family for about 10 years. It is exciting, frustrating and satisfying. Anyway, if I can help you let me know. Your Cousin, Ruth

They both were allegedly fathered by the same man namely John Parker Murphy b. 1872 who was Irish. He too had a wife and a daughter, but had a number of children by other women. If by chance we are talking about the same family please contact me for further information on this family

I am looking for information on Mary Katherine Hopp & Clarence O. Means. His parents would have been Charles (?) Means & ollie Dake(Drake). I am not completely sure of her last name. Clarence & Mary are the parents of my grandfather Clarence (Buck) O. Means Jr. married to Marjory E. Irey, who are the parents of my father Clarence (Sandy) O.Means III. I know there is a Native American line on Mary Hopp's side of the family. Any information would be appreciated.

Hi, my name is Janice Holland. My maiden name is Means. My father and grandfather were born and raised in Ewtah, AL. I have no history prior to that time. My grandmother's name was Susie Means. I was born and raised in Chattanooga, TN. I have one aunt, daugther of James Means, that is still living. She also lives in Chattanooga as well. We have several cousins. By the way, I also have a sister, Carol Pulliam. I also thought that Means was a very rare name. There was only one other family in Chattanooga with that name and to our knowledge we were not related. I would like more information if you have it.
I just got back from Mercer and Sunmmers county's the end of the month and having found almost all the things I was looking for tried to pass the information on to all interested partys.
However there may be some out here I don't have contact with.
Here is what I found I located the Hugh Means and Elizabeth L. Wright home stead and yes there is a family cemetery there and YES Hugh and Elizabth are there
Also their great grand daughter Mary Susan St Clair
and at lest 3 other unidentified graves
I found that there was a lot more than just 60 acres of land the family knew about up till now it was closer to 250 or 300, all in the same area plus other lands traded about from one to the other before being sold for the move to Illinois.I took pictures of the grave stones and copied the deeds. I did not find any more inforamtion on Rebecca and Hugh Shrewsberry so I still don't know how they are connected to the family
