Kathy
Up to now I hadn't seen any connection between my Meath who came from County Mayo around 1895 and eventually married Jacob McCabe of Coffey County, Kansas in 1898.
Her brother John came to the US in 1906 and would have stayed had not their brother Thomas had a serious accident at home in Ireland. So he returned there and raised a large family, some of whom I had the pleasure of meeting.
I noticed today on his manifest on the SS Majestic April of 1906 that he said that his final destination was Iola, Kansas. Iola is in Allen County, His sister Kate was in nearby Coffey County. Why should he mention Iola.
Then I remembered that you had said that your grandparents were married in Iola. Could this be a link between my family and yours? Iola is not far from Burlington KS. Hmmm Mike Moorad
