Hi Laura

I am your second cousin!
Your grandparents Eric and Ellen were definitely from England (London) and Eric was my Dad's brother (my fathers name was Ron).
Their childrens names were Christine, Paul. Barry, Graham and Ross.
Not sure where they are now but if you contacted HAROLD meecham in Rotorua (Erics younger brother) he could probably tell you. There are lots of Meechams in Rotorua darl.

Good Luck
Lynn

Sorry, just realized I made a mistake in my last message. You were looking for Alfred/Albert who married Mary Ann Poynter. He would have been a nephew of my great grandfather Jacob, who was a brother of Alfred/Albert's father William. Sure does get confusing at times.
Hope this makes sense.

It could be that your William who married Mary Ann Poynter was the brother of my Great Grandfather JACOB,1855/1913.
Our family line also goes back, William, William, Henry, Henry and one more Henry b. 1716/17 m. Susannah Fowler. JACOB m. Martha Smith,1858/1905. He came to Canada along with many other related Meechams, early in the 1900's. He can be found in the 1911 Canada Census living with his son William(my grandfather)and his family, which includes my father. His death is registered in 1913. My grandfather William 1877/1919, (Jacob's son)served with the Canadian forces in W.W.1, returned safely to Canada in 1919,and was killed that same year in a freak accident. Not sure if this or any other information I may have is of interest to you. If so, please let me know.

Dear Laura,
only just found this site, so 4 yrs after your post you may already have the answers. My father in law is Ronald W Meecham who now lives now me in Australia. He thinks the Eric you are talking about is his younger brother. His brother was married to Ellen Masterson from Canning town, London E14. Eric passed away about 18 months ago, he lives in Thames N.Z north island. Eric's fathers name was Frederick and his mothers name was May Ley.

What is your fathers name?

Let us know, if we can help anymore as Ron is full of info.

Kind Regards

Michelle Meecham

Hey Laura, Michelle here. Spoke to Mum and Dad last night and if you want to know anything at all you can ring Dad (Tony) and he would be more than happy to help with anything he can. Mum said she thinks that June and Peter are the only living ones of the brothers and sisters over there and then of course there are the off spring. If you want to get Mum and Dads Phone numbers or mine you can email me on cressy@chc.quik.co.nz

Say hi to your Mum. Hope she is well.

Michelle
X

Ha...funny....it's Michelle Meecham here then. I'm still in Rotorua. Colins little sister. My married name is Cresswell, but people still call me Meecham so it gets a little confusing. OK. June is I think still in Swindon. Aunt Ciss died last year, she was married to Uncle Jim Meecham (one of both our Grandads brother), who is also deceased. That will be great to catch up with the relies if you can. You will love the UK. I did, didn't want to come home even though it was a holiday. Could have put down my roots quite easily. Make sure you don't stay in London, England isn't London and there is so much beautiful countryside to see and GREAT THINGS TO DO! Our Grandads came from East Ham in London and when I was there with Mum and Dad in 2000 Dad took me and Mum to see where he and the rest of them lived in Corporation Street. Was great! He took us to his schools he went to as well.
Let me know how you get on.
Michelle :)
Looking for Dayton Meecham. Lived in Central Point, Oregon during 1968. Worked at his brother's gas station while he was there. He met a woman, Valerie. Valerie had an infant daughter at the time. Valerie believed Dayton may have been from Palo Alto, California. Any ideas? Please e-mail me if you know Dayton or any one in his family. Thank you.
