My name is Dina Meeks and I was born in Wheeling WV as Dina Porter and married Evan Meeks from Iowa. Their family has a huge family tree and are mostly from German heritage.

We are descendants of William Henry Counce and Mary Reynolds. If you click on #7, James Claborne Counce, he married Mary Hoover who had a son, #35 Lafayette M. Counce. If you click on #35, Lafayette married Sarah Coffman. They had a daughter, #109 Mary Counce. If you click on #109, Mary married Will Boggs and had a daughter, #252 Ella Ross Boggs, our Grandmother!! If you click on # 252, there it all is.... It isn't all correct but it's pretty close.

I transcripteded a deed of property from COLEMAN MEAKS and his wife ELLY dated 26 Apr 1824, Henry Co., VA selling one half of 100 acres of land on both sides of Stewarts Creek, Henry Co., VA to PETER COX. This deed is recorded in the Henry County, VA Courthouse, Collinsville, VA which is part of the Martinsville, VA area.

In the deed it states that ELLY MEAKS, fomerly ELLY COX of Henry County, VA. It Also state that a LAINEY/LANEY COX is living on one half of the property. This propety was owned by WILLIAM COX who seized and possessed the land from ANDREW REA.

LAINEY COX was the daughter of Capt JAMES EDWARDS and his wife LUCY. JAMES EDWARDS left a will dated 9 Jan 1792 Henry Co., VA in which he left his daughter LAINEY COX 5 shillings.

LAINEY COX was also a witness on a deed of EDWARD CASON who married the widow LUCY EDWARDS 27 Apr 1793, Henry Co. VA.
Deed dated 29 Sep 1793 Children of beloved wife LUCY CARSON, MARY EDWARDS, JUDITH EDWARDS and NANCY JOHNSON(listed as NANCY JOHNSON EDWARDS in will of JAMES EDWARDS and not married) to inherit 1 negro woman from estate of JOHN MARR(which JAMES EDWARDS owned a bond on)

my grandfather was garnet meeks, he had many sisters, all named after gemstone, he was garnet, one sis rose, opal, pearl, there was alot. my dad had a sister named barbara sue, and one named jo ann . they are both deceased, he had a brother named david deceased also him and his brother tom still live, he lives in maine and my uncle tom om indiana, but they are from kentucky.

I'm trying to find out information on my great Grandfather John Henry Meeks. He was born in North Carolina in March of 1873. Lived in Danville, VA. He died in Sep of 1956.
Married in 1898 to Lily (Lillie, Lilly) Peterson Farrar.

My Grandmother was his youngest child - Pauline Ester Meeks Gilbert (born 1918 died 2002). His other children with Lily were: Percey Meeks (b. 1899 death unknown), John (Johnnie) D. Meeks b. 1902 death: unknown I think it was in the early 1960s), Richard E. Meeks (1904-1979), Bessie M. Meeks Schweikert (b. 1909 death: late 1970s).

I can't find information on his father. I do have his mother as being a Mary Carter.

Looking for the wife of a Meeks from I assume Georgia or Fl.

We have been told through oral history Lola Turner had married to stop her parents from forcing her to return. This may be a marriage that shows no longevity in that as soon as this marriage happened she may have moved to PA. It may be that there is a child born 1929 but....this may not be related to the marriage ?
I am so sorry I do not have more info hoping that this rings somebody’s memory as a passing note…

I am looking for information on a Sam Meeks. Born Feb 1869 in North Carolina and died 1955 in Arkansas. On Death certificate it listed him as negro yet family states that he looked white. Possibly son of Virgil Meeks or is Virgil's sibling. Any information would be helpful.

Take a look at the line of Ernest Carl Meeks. I am using my daughter in laws account. Ernest was my father, I'm Carla. Sounds like the line may inter mingle. There are Williams's and Benjamin Franklin's in the line. I'm trying to find out information too.

Tammy, I don't know if you got this info yet so I'll post it here incase you didn't and also for others who are searching.

James Meeks was born 09/09/1864 in Indiana. Died 18 Apr 1926 in Jasper County, Illinois.

Marry A. Tuttle was born 02 Jan 1846 in Logan, Ohio. Died sometime in 1915 (still searching the exact date) in Newton, Jasper, Illinois.

James and Mary were married on 09 Sep 1864 in Douglas County, Illinois. This was Mary's second marriage. Her first was to a man who last name was Stutsman.

James's father's name was William Meeks. I don't have any further info on him yet. James' mother was Maria M Palmer who was born in England. Their marriage is recorded as 06 Apr 1836 in Floyd County,Indiana.

Emmaline Elizabeth Meeks, born 10 Aug 1880, Jasper County, Illinois. Died, 12 Oct 1966 in Newton, Jasper County, Illinois.

Also James was the 2nd husband of Marry Ann Tuttle. Her first husband's last name was Stutsman. She was a window when she married James on 09/09/1864 in Douglas County, Illinois.

Daniel was my great grand father. Millie Frances (Gay) Holzendorff Meeks was Daniel's 2nd wife. He married her when they were both elderly, they took care of each other. They are both buried at Taylor's United Methodist Church in Brunswick, GA. Millie is buried next to her 1st husband.

Daniel's daughter was named Carrie Lena, she's buried over on the West Coast of Florida. I have contact with her decendants.

Neither of those two Elias Meeks's belong to me. The Elias I'm searching for was born abt 1852 according to numerous census records. The last record I have on him shows him living in Sumter Co., Florida in 1885.

Find a grave has a Elias Meeks listed in Bath Cemetery, Bath, NY. Born unknown, died 9-7-1909. Also one listed in Meeks Cemetery, Nicholls, Coffee County, Georgia. He was born 11-23-1863, died 8-8-1918. Go to Find a Grave and click non famous and follow instructions. Hope you find him. My Meeks are mostly from Kentucky and Texas. My great grandfather was Allen Claud Meeks and great grandmother was Margaret Wesley. Good luck, Virginia

Is anyone searching Jimmy Meeks? I believe Linda Gail Wynn was my gr-aunt. She was the daughter of William Eugene Wynn of Perry & Jacksonville, FL. There was another family web page that indicated Linda Gail Wynn had been married (4) times: (1) Jimmy Meeks; (2) William Moore; (3) Joseph Sardo; (4) Paul Gerald Stewart. I can not find a marriage record for her and Mr. Meeks or Mr. Moore but I can find the divorce record for her and Mr. Sardo and her subsequent marriage to Mr. Stewart; both took place in December 1978. I got Sarah's and her mother-in-law's (Sarah Clawson's) burial sites confused.

Sarah Meeks (1800-1891) - Morgan/Berkeley County VA/WV

Hi -

I am looking for information on my gggg-grandmother, Sarah Meeks, who was born in 1800 in Berkeley County, VA (now WV) and died in 1891 in Morgan County, WV.

In 1816, Sarah married Thomas/Tolbert Rockhold/Rockwell.

I have all of the essential dates for Sarah, but I was wondering if anyone out there had any information on her parents, grandparents, etc. I also was wondering if anyone happened to have a photo of her gravestone from the old family cemetery out on Pious Ridge in Morgan County.

From what I have found so far, both her father and her grandfather were named Lewis, but that's all I have been able to find.

Annie Tandy is Matilda Tandy who was first married to a Meeks, I'll have to dig out the name, I can't remember it. She was my great grandmther, my grandfather was Harly Harris Meeks. Matilda, "Grandma Tandy" is buried in the Resthaven cemetary in Midland Texas, next to her son Harly Meeks. I have a ledger that Harley kept, it has a few names in it, Aunt Valley, and Aunt Dale are in it as well as some info on Harley's mon, Matilda, and his dad. Meeks/Cannell Connection

Mary Meeks of Kent County, Maryland listed in her will of 1791 a grandson named Isaac Curnell (should have been Cannell) and a granddaughter named Susanna Curnell (Cannell). Isaac and Susanna's father was Isaac Cannell, Sr. Looking for any information about the Cannell/Meeks relationship. Any help would be appreciated.
