Meers Family from Ireland and New Jersey, USA

Hi. My great grandmother was Mary Ann Meers, born in 1850 and married Patrick Kenney in August of 1866. They lived in Jersey City, New Jersey. Mary Ann Meers' father was Patrick Meers and her paternal grandmother was Catherine Meers. Her mother was Bridget Hagen and maternal grandmother was Ann Hagen. I'm not certain of Mary Ann's grandfather's names. Mary Ann and Patrick Kenney had at least 6 children who were John, James Francis, Thomas E, Elizah Agnes, Mary Francis and Alice Gertrude Kenney (my grandmother). The spelling of Kenney could also be spelled Kenny.

My great great grandmother, Mary Jane Barlow was widowed in 1864. In 1873 she lived with a gentleman named William Meers---not as husband and wife, in a house in Trenton. I am trying to find out what happened to her.
Elaine Manger

Fellow researchers,

I located a Tucker-Magruder monument while visiting Tildon Wilcoxson, a newly found family member at the cemetery a few days ago. I descend from Tuckers myself so the stone caught my eye. We may have a connection. They're buried pretty close.

I did some digging and found additional information that may help make links. If you are able to match someone with your line, please contact me at SonnyHaven@aol.com.
I,too, am searching for my gggrandparents, James M. Meers and Narcissa Barnett Meers. Our family hasn't been able to find very much information. They lived in GA in Hall,
Forsyth counties. James served in the Governor's Home Guard during the Civil
War. He was discharged in Savannah, GA. He
is listed on the 1870 census, but his wife is
shown as Caroline.
If you have any additional information, I would appreciate hearing from you.

I'm struggling with the Mears/Meers family in GA also. I have found a J. M. Mears on the 1860 Cherokee Co census. With him is Narisa, which I have been assuming should have been Narcissa. Children listed are Elizabeth, Joseph L., Eliza A., and Martha D. Does this sound like the family you are looking for?

If so -- I have been unable to locate them on other census records and would like to know where else you have found them. Of course, what I'd really like is complete information on James' siblings and parents, but that is probably asking too much at this point -- grin.

I'm ultimately trying to find the family of Francis Marion Mears and wife Lucy Lewis. They were the parents of Harrison Benjamin Mearse (b. ca. 1860) (my husband's great grandfather) and appear on the 1860 Cherokee, GA census (without Harrison Benjamin, of course - sigh- which is why it took me so long to put even this much together).
