Alexander Meggett, Uxbridge Mass

I am looking for any information anyone may have on Alexander Meggett, who was the 2nd husband of Sarah McArthur, great-grandparents of Gen. Douglas MacArthur, who settled in Uxbridge, Mass, ca. 1828. ANY information about this Meggett, his children and/or their descendants, would be greatly appreciated for adding to the family tree of Douglas MacArthur.

John Meggett spent his youth working with the G.T.P. laying steel perhaps his brother Robert did the same.

Mary Meggett' ( born 1869 in NB) folks were ?? Meggett and Elizabeth Williamson daughter of Hezekiah Williamson. There is another Mary Meggett born 14 Aug 1889 in NB daughter of John and Mary Jane <Cunningham> Meggett my close relatives.

I thought that was the case!.. Their parents were Robert Meggett who was born in Belton, England. Family story was that he came to Canada to work on the Trans-Continental Railway. Do you have the name of Mary's parents?

Yes, my John Meggett/Meggitt is the brother of Robert, Mary, Hannah, Benjamin Meggett. I am John's Great Granddaughter through Elizabeth (Lizzie), his first born. He married Mary Jane Cunningham in 1882.

Do you know if this John Meggett was related to Robert Meggett? Robert married Mary Toomey (Twomey) and had George, Benjamin, Robert, and Cora.

john meggett was the father of elizabeth ( lizzie) meggitt, and at least 7 other daughters and one son. he lived in beverly,mass. 1906 but died june 5, 1941 in castor, alberta,canada.

Hi Linda...I am not sure either/ so were both loosing it. Here is what I have on Robert and Mary Elizabeth Tormey. Robert B 1844 in England. I have children Benjamin Franklin Meggett b may 8, 1884 in Newtown, Kings co. Robert Roy b sept 7, 1886 also in Newtown. I found this information from the Provincial Archives website film #'s F18771, code 1884, m 38 and F18774, code 1886, m 194/I also know Roberts mother is Elizabeth and was b 1815 and died aug 14, 1896 in Piccadilly, Kings Co. NB. Children Benjamin b ?, Hannah ( I am not sure if this is a daughter or daughter in law, John b Nov 4, 1859 Married into my Cunningham line. I also have another two children...not sure if they are children of one of the brothers and Hannah or brother and sister. another John was listed with family b 1867 Mary b 1869.

Hi Linda a cousin of mine saw that their was a Meggett in the Sussex are who was a Tavern / hotel operator? any Idea which one or when the Father died? (one who was Married to Elizabeth??) Robert and John's Father. Also do you know if Hannah is a sister or a spouce? Are the last two children Grandchildren to Elizabeth or actual children? if so again when did husband die? thanks again. Hi.. see if this helps - Hezekiah Williamson m. ?? ; children: Elizabeth Williamson (1820-1897). Elizabeth m. ?? Meggett; children: Robert Meggett (1847-1902? 1914) m. Mary Torney (Tromey)(1855-1902); children: William?, George Williamson (1879-1951), Benjamin Franklin, Robert Roy, Cora Frances (born in Cape Elizabeth, ME), and Loretta? 'Nettie'. George is my gr-grandfather. I have Mary Torney's parents as Bridget Murray m. Carmen? Torney. I think Bridget is connected to Lyon line.. Please can you help me verify.. make sure the order is right? there's a Robert William and Robert Roy.. thx
