Right you are Ranee! That picture you attached is one that sat in my "who are these people with my great grandmother Belle" file for years until I "met" Roxanne Felton Busby through Ancestry a couple of years ago. Between the two of us, we were able to flesh out quite a bit of Frank Jr's (as Belle called him) family. I believe we have pretty well "proved" that Frank's father (William Franklin Morris) was wrongfully convicted of murdering his wife (Maude Jane Etherton) in 1921. Largely as a result of work by Bill's (Belle always called him Frank) daughter Letha Victoria "Dolly" Morris Miller, Bill's sentence was commuted in 1939 and Bill went to live first with Mary Jane Morris and Joseph Clyde Sharpnack, then with your grandfather and grandmother about 1940 on 29th Street in Lincoln.

Sometime between the 4/1/1940 US Census and a November 1942 Morris family photo taken at the Sharpnacks, Bill disappeared for good. We have been unable to trace him after the 1940 Census, although it has been speculated that Joe Sharpnack "ran him off" as he may have been jealous of Bill's attention to his granddaughter, Marilyan Jo Sharpnack. Someone else claimed he was a "drunk," although that would run counter to all the info we have been able to uncover to date. By all other accounts, he was a sweet, amiable, sometimes hardworking person earning a hardscrabble living as a farmer, rancher, prospector and jack-of-all trades. Unfortunately, there's no one still living who can tell us one way or another.

I have a public tree on Ancestry (Carter Warters 2009-08-25) that I'd be happy to invite you to review if you'd like. Or, I can send you a gedcom or printed file of the ancestors of your grandfather that I have been able to document. I can trace the Morrisses back to 1814 and some of the others back into the late 1700s. Let me know what you'd like to have.

It's great to make your acquaintance. My great grandmother Belle (Sarah Isabelle Belle Morris Carter) and her son, Clarence Edgar "Nick" Carter Sr. were the ones who took pains to stay in touch with their family "out West." After they died, contact was lost, although most of the family records came to me. I have been trying to fill in the blanks as best I can. A nice side benefit is reconnecting with family that has been "lost" for several generations.

Best regards - Jim Warters (jawarters@aol.com)

Hello Ranee - I believe you and I are 3rd cousins on the Morris side. Your grandfather, Frank M. Morris, was the son of William Franklin Morris who was my great grandmother's brother - (Sarah) Isabelle "Belle" Morris Carter. I don't have anything on your father's family, but have a great deal on the Morris side. Best regards - Jim Warters (jawartersATaol.com)

Ranee,

I am John and Laura Osborn's daughter. Mom was a Brant. Her mother was Louella Mehaffey.

I have Gertie's parents as George Oertell and Nellie Cleveland. Can you verify this for me? Do you know what happened to Harry's father? I have a newspaper article that states his mother, Mary (Foster) Mehaffey, filed for a divorce from John Mehaffey 19 Jan 1898 on the grounds of dissertion. (She then married James D. Slusher 05 Oct 1898.) John Mehaffey hitched the team, went to the store for supplies and never returned. She believed him to be living in Oklahoma at the time she filed for the divorce.

I wish I lived closer to Lincoln. They have a great library. Everything is indexed on cards. All you have to do is look up the name. They have the exact location of the article in the reels of film on these cards and are very helpful in showing you how to run the microfilm machines.

I was in Lincoln about 2 years ago with my Aunt, Pat Arnold, and she took me to the library.

Any information you have on the family would be great. Old photos or newspaper articles give clues to the family history.

Thank you,
Marla

I am searching for any information on Harry MEHAFFEY and his family.

I have a census record for him in 1920, Nebraska, Lancaster county. Harry (born in Nebraska) was married to Guerte UNKNOWN (born in Montana) and had a daughter Luella (my grandmother).

Not much is known about her. She died before any of her grandchildren were born and my grandfather (William Lewis BRANT) wouldn't talk about her. (He never remarried) I have been unable to locate any information on her.

She was born in 1917 in Nebraska and she died in 1959 in Nebraska. A man named George OERTELL donated two burials plot for her and her son (he died the same year). She is buried in Roca, Nebraska. George was mentioned in her son's obituary as being his gr grandfather and Harry as his grandfather.

I don't know Harry's wife's maiden name or who his parents were. I was told Harry had been married twice.

Thank you

Aaron Himrod and Isabella Kirk are my GGG grand parents. do you have anymore information on Isabella such as where born or who her parents were. I have lots of information on the Himrod line. Have you ever run across any information on the Green's of Erie county or Waterford, Pa.
