I received this from Cousine Shirley. I just wanted to make sure as many family members as possible know.

Good afternoon to all,

I don’t know if you are all aware of this but, Louisiane-Acadie decided that since Rachelle Dugas will be working on Louisiana’s presence at the CMA until the end of August and all of the Louisiana bid-related activities will be over soon, that we should utilize the resource to organize a reunion for the big families that seem to be missing from the list of the 2009 CMA Reunions. The one that stood out the most was the LeBlanc and then there are the Bourque’s and Melanson of which we have family members here in Louisiana who would like to attend a reunion. After speaking with Thelma Richard of FAFA in New Brunswick, we determined a plan of action that started with contacting Stephen White to get his ok. Unfortunately, after a month of trying to contact him with no luck, I was obligated to leave him a message letting him know that we are going to proceed with the project.

This morning I received the great news that we have been able to confirm a venue for the LeBlanc/Bourque/Melanson Reunion on August 21st. The Town of Tracadie-Sheila was able to negotiate an amazing deal with the Aréna de Tracadie and we will be renting it for the affordable price of $1/participant. We chose to host the reunion on August 21st because the Acadian band 1755 has decided to offer a rebate to reunion participants for their show that evening meaning that we would not need to organize a social event. Also, we will have Cajun cooks on-site at that time to cook up a lunch for the group. We need to discuss the registration fee.

I have been working with 1755 (Acadian Band) member, Roland Gauvin, on the project and he was also able to make a connection with Capacadie.com who is interesting in creating a page for the reunion on their site. This page would be capable of taking registrations. The Town of Tracadie has also confirmed that they will set up an account to receive registration fees and I will have access to the account when I get to Canada.

So, now with all of this said, we need to create a small committee to oversee the organization and programming of the Aug. 21st reunion of the LeBlanc, Melanson and Bourque families. Please keep in mind that we are going to create a opportunity for these families to get together without creating a complicated program of activities. Please send me your comments and suggestions for committee members.

I’ve sent this email to Thelma Richard, James Bourque, Ray Trahan, AJ > LeBlanc, Lisette Cormier-Noel, Cyrille LeBlanc and Eddie Melanson. I couldn’t find an email address for Hector LeBlanc or Dave LeBlanc. Please note that I would like members from Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, PEI, Louisiana and elsewhere to be involved. No one will be responsible for all the work, I just need help with communicating to the families and determining what will be happening.

Merci beaucoup!
