I am from Spain and my last name is Mena. I found Mena in a list of Shepardic last names. They were Jews forced to convert to Christianity or expelled.

My last name is Mena as well, and I know many people with that last name. I am from Spain, where Mena is a kind of common last name. The origin of such last name is the castle located in the province of Castilla y Leon. So, I'd say your last name and family comes from Spain.

Can anyone give me info on Post Office Inspector of Mexico named Mena who was the Inspector around 1900. He sent his two sons, Jose and Francisco to St. Louis, MO in 1900 to attend school. I'm looking for any and all info regarding this family. Thank you.

My maiden name was Mena and my father was from Puerto Rico.
FYI, there is a Facebook page called "La dinastia Mena" for anyone interested in the last name of Mena.

I've not researched it but I've just assumed it originated in the Valey of Mena in Spain (Burgos).

I never met my father so I have alot of curisousty towards the history of the last name Mena. Growing up I could honeslty say I never met not one person with that last name. I just came across this website so hopefully it can give me some intersting facts. I hope you can help too.

There may be another reason it was so hard to find "Sara", she went by "Irene" instead. And she lived in a nursing home in Clearwater, KS until her death.

Thank you! I believe that we may have the same ancestor in mind. I don't have my genealogy information in front of me, but my Sara Irene Mena (nee Pulliam) was born in Kingman County (Rago area) in 1895 to Henry Bascum Pulliam and Elfa Alice Grice, my great grandparents. I had absolutely no idea she existed until I started this research six months ago. My father said he barely knew of her himself... which seems odd to me. Sara Irene was my father's aunt.

My great grandmother is Sara Irene Mena. She died in 1982 and is buried in Cheney, Kansas. She was my grandmother's mom, My grandmother's name is Clara Evelyn Navarro (nee Mena) she died in 1982. She had 3 other daughthers, My great aunt Carmel is still alive and lives in kansas. Her son Bobby Arumedo is still alive and lives in Kansas also. The other sisters are also alive but I'm not sure where they live. I talked to my mom and she said the grandma was born in Kingman county. I left out one son Victor he died in 1996. When Grandpa Mena died, she remarried and her last name was Argumedo. To get anymore information about her. I'm going to have to touch base with my mom and aunt. I do have a pic of her and her kids if you would like to see this.

There is a book called "La Formacion del Pueblo Puertorriqueno" by Estela Cifre de Loubriel. I have a copy and I see that it lists Geronimo and Rosalia.

A very late reply to search for Mena family.
Fannie Boyson's father, Fred, was my great-grandmother's brother. She came to Australia in 1876 from Prussia - I have some of their ancestry in Denmark and some contacts in Rome, NY.

Hey, how are you doing? It's Andrea.....I have found some research out along with information from Uncle Carl. First of all, your grandfather's middle name was Boyson which was your great grandmother's maiden name. I believe her name is Fannie Helen Boyson and was believed to be born Dec 6, 1897, but I haven't found any records to verify. In addition, your great grandfather's name was John S. Mena who was born April 26, 1902 and died November of 1972, but I do not know the locations....I hope this helps. Also your great grandmother's father's name was believed to be Fred Boyson and your great grandmother's mother's maiden name Wilgus????? Hope this helps. Keep me posted if you find out any info. If you know anything about your grandmother's side let me know.....I am clueless

I recently learned that my great-great-grandmother was Rosalía Mena. She was the first wife of Gerónimo Reyes (b.1836). I assume she died around 1861 in Utuado, PR. They had several children.
