Im not sure if we are the same family Mendez. And i really dont know much of them. Its been really hard getting info from family and the only people who know more about them are in Mexico. my grandfathers name was Alejandro Mendez born in the 1900's. Hello - Some of your info sounds very familiar to mine. My great grandfather was from Asturias and his name was Jose Mendez (although I know there are probaby a lot of Jose's in Asturias!). He traveled to Cuba with his brother, but then they both escaped (an interesting story) and came to Tampa and lived here their entire lives. Does this sound like your family? I am from Costa Rica. I want to ave information about how does Mendez come to my country? Actually, I have two lastname and both are Mendez. Alhought my dad and mom have the same lastname they are not family. My dad is from the Pacific part of Costa Rica call Puntarenas and my mom is from the capital San Jose.

So, Does somebody have some information to share with me about how Mendez Family immigrated to Costa Rica or Central America?

HI, I was married to a Tomas Castro from Guasave Sinaloa Mexico. He is deceased now but his mother is Elba Alicia Castro and her mothers name was Belen Castro. That is all the information I have. I do know that my husband had a cousin by the name of Jorge that lives in California.My son is trying to trace his Indian history. Do you have any info that would be helpful?

I am new to this forum, and I am looking to identify decesdants of Donato Mendez Y Acevedo(b. abt 1865??? and d. abt. 1955?) and his wife Teresa Medina Y Perez de Mendez. Locality on the US Census shows a locality of Cruz, Moca, PR. His children are Cesareo Mendez (B. 1895) and Evangelista Valentin Y Mendez (b 1890s). Can anyone tell me good sources to find pre-1900 Census records and or birth/death records

I am searching for any information on my ancestors from VIEQUES,PR. My 2great grandfather was Antonio MENDEZ (1860's), his daugthers were Virginia and Francisca MENDEZ FIGUEROA (1880's... Virginia had two sons;Luis MENDEZ (my great uncle)and Vidal LOPEZ (my grandfather)and her sister Francisca married a MELENDEZ and her children were also raised in the island... it seems she was widowed at a young age to raise 5 plus children... one named Angelina MELENDEZ.

My names Angie Mendez and my family's from tangancicuaro too my grandfathers name was Procopio Mendez and was born in 1923 I think he never really spoke of his father but said that when his mother died. he left him and his sisters and started a new family in the same town and they would have been Mendez's too
