Hi Demian,

I'm your biological father. I haven't stopped thinking about you and your older brother Jason. After so many years, I'm very glad to know that you are interested in contacting me.

I apologize for not attempting to contact you and Jason. I thought it would be better to stop being a disruption to both of your lives, so that you both can live as normal a life as possible. I have always hoped that the day would come when both of you would reach out to me. I've remarried twice after your mom divorced me, and am now happily married to a wonderful woman. She has 2 adult daughters, but, we have not had and do not plan to have any children in our marriage. Although, we do have the most wonderful grandson in the world who is now 4 years/4 months old. Kathy and I have been happily married since 1995.

P.S. I found out about your inquiry today from your aunt Patty, my sister. I see it has been 5 years since you submitted your inquiry. Hoping to hear from you soon.

Here is my contact information:
John Meno
P.O. Box 55792
Hayward, Ca 94545
Cell: 510-760-2497

Hi again, Carolann!
Yes, these messages ARE old, aren't they??? Praise G_d and Ancestry.com for keeping them running, eh?
I do not seem to get back here as often as I should but was alerted by ancestry.com to your reply. I also re-read a message from a Dave whose Meno's were both born in Slovatkia? (not sure of spelling and can't get back to that page while I'm writing this -- sorry Dave) but our Meno's were French Canadian as I think yours may have been also. Please feel free to contact me at MenokiddSC@aol.com. I'm not really able to do much with genealogy at this moment but hoping things settle down soon.

I've sadly lost track of a very nice man in Pennsylvania (I think the name was 'Marsh' whose wife had Meno connections) I did have a great uncle Charles but he was always from Michigan...ironically, my sister's name is Carol Ann. Will be most happy to share ANYTHING I have and will gladly put you in touch with OUR OTHER MENO COUSINS as well! Happy to hear from you.
stephanie meno

Hi, my biological father was named Juan Baza Meno. I was adopted at 3 years old by Robert James Affeldt. My mother is Constance Ann Wellen. From what my mother told me of my father (never met him, my mom divorced when I was five months old) his ancestry is from Guam (an island close to the Philippines). I did some searching and found many Meno's in Guam, but I guess this doesn't definitely mean they come from Guam because there is a U.S. military base there with lots of travelers. I still haven't found my father after many attempts. If you have any information it would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

Karen Meno and I thought that we might be related, but unfortunately we didn't have enough info to validate. We suspected that my grandfather, Rosario Minisci and her grandfather or great grandfather might have been brothers (I believe his name was Georgio)....who had changed his name from Minisci to Meno. No one in her family knew, and my grandfather died when my mom was less than a year old. My grandmother died in 1972. My grandfather was born in 1881 in San Giorgio Albanese, Italy.
Karen mentioned a "Joe Meno" family in Chicago that she was related to, so in a long winded reply...the answer is MAYBE...Charlie

My mother's maiden name is Minisci [family came from San Giorgio Albanese (province of Cosenza, region of Calabria), Italy]. She was born in 1911 in Western NY (Hornell), and my grandfather's name was Rosario Minisci (born in 1881 in Italy). A number of years ago, I met a woman who lives in Cincinnati named Karen Meno, who said that her family name was originally Minisci. She also said that they originated in western NY area, and that there was another branch of the family near Chicago.

Hi Steph, i have my Gr-Grandmother's baptism certificate from 1888, which has the MENO surname, and her diary from 1907, in which she lists herself as Amy MENO, and her father as Frank MENO. All other records list them as
MINEAU after 1912. Frank MENO is recorded as Francis/Francois MINEAU on his death certificate and his headstone 7-Nov-1915 Moosup, CT. If you have French-Canadian MENO ancestors, it is possible they were once MINEAU'S. Some of the French Canadian MINEAU'S were shortened from LUMINEAU. There were many MINEAU'S from the Maskinonge area of Quebec, and a high concentration of MINEAU'S who migrated to Michigan. - George

They eventually went back to MINEAU. Other variations are: LUMINEAU, MIGNOT, MINEAULT, MENEAULT and MINO. Has made the search difficult! - George

Nate,
I am grateful to see your message. My name is Steph (Meno) Shapiro and I live in Michigan. If you (or any other Menos) are interested in some Michigan background, "you know where to find me."
My background, so far, starts somewhere in Canada then to Sanilac County MI then to St. Clair County MI then out to Ohio but I would imagine that Illinois is a possibility!!
I am still stumbling around this "web thing" and quite frankly found THE MENO FORUM by accident. I have added it to "favorites" but don't know how often I will ever remember to get back here. Please feel free to e-mail any time!

Steph

I was just recently contacted by a nice "cousin" who reminded me that some nice cousins (by the name of Marsh) who live in Pennsylvania are looking for Menos. They found me originally during a winter Florida vacation where they "just happened to be" next door to neighbors of mine here in St. Clair, MI. The "messenger," also not a Meno by name but looking for us just the same is "stopping by here on Thanksgiving Saturday. Could you give me some background between now and then and perhaps we three might be able to "be in touch" all together that day??

I'm menokid@bigfoot.com and sshap1965@aol.com
and looking forward to hearing from you.

Spelling

I know that we have been M-E-N-O s for about four to five generations but that we weren't always spelled M-E-N-O. With French Canadian ancestery, can we assume that our name once had a more unique spelling?? Do any of you have any idea and/or documentation as to any exact other spelling?

HI Erica - Meno Name

I have been living with the Meno name a long time and have OFTEN been taken for Italian. I sure don't mind but I believe that the name was shortened from a French original rather than Italian. With the little bit of research I have done so far, I have found MANY Italians, French, and a few I can't yet identify. The REALLY boggling discovery are the NUMEROUS "given" names, Meno. Can you imagine being named Meno Smith, Meno Jones, Meno Whatever???? I have found a Meno, Oklahoma (haven't gotten to the bottom -- or the top -- of that one yet). Please feel free to e-mail me should you care to compare notes. I will be looking forward to hearing from you. I am still pretty new to this e-mail and computer thing, as much as I love it, and I may accidently loose you in a shuffle or tow so please keep trying if at first you don't hear back. Thanks, Steph -- and our best to your dad

Hi Kathie

I have a great, great grandfather (Cosmo Minisci or Meno) who settled in Bedford, IN around 1899. I have heard he settled there becasue other family members were already in the area, but I am unsure if Martha was a relative of his. Let me know if this info can help you
Chris Meno

Meno name

My great Grandmother was Martha Meno. She married a John Summers about 1890 and had my grandfather in 1900.
they lived in Stinesville In. We were told these many years that Martha claimed to be full blooded indian. (Cherokee) Her parents were also both born in In. I have not been able to find any thing about her, to date.
I was also told by a postal worker in Stinesville that before 1957. If someone died, the family most likely burried the loved one outside the house under a tree. After 1957 they were burried in Spencer, In.

I know that Martha moved to Bloomington, In. and lived there until her death. She had a daughter Lena Summers Leford.

This is as far as I can get on anything .

Hope this helps.

We would like to find out what nationally Martha was.
