Over the years I have investigated the Mense family throughout the world.
I was born in the Netherlands and hence have a lot of info of Dutch family members, but also those in the USA and Germany and also in other countries.
I did publish some data on the web, but no longer have that email address, so use mensecoleman@yahoo.co.uk instead.
Willem Cornelis (Kees) Mense

The farthest back I have is a Ludger George Mense born Dec 20, 1820. Not sure where. Was married in Nov 22, 1853 in Prussia to Maria Wienkamp. I don't suppose any of those names pop up in your research? Thanks for your help.

Denny

I appreciate the information that you posted but we don't really have a John Mense in the family I am researching. I am searching for any information on William Mense who I have born in Prussia about 1829. He had a brother Adam and a brother Henry. They came to the United States and settled in St. Libory or Lively Grove Illinois. Any information that you would have on these people, I would appreciate. I have some information on William and Adam's families if you need any of that.

John's danish name was Jurgen. He went by John when they moved here. All I have about their lives in Hamburg is his wife was born into a wealthy family and disowned when they married. Jurgen's wife was Hermine Dehnke and married about 1873. They came to this country in 1880 and were naturalized in 1885. I am working on getting his papers. They did have one child while still in Hamburg, John Jr. born May 14, 1874.

I have started trying to resesarch my husband's family. His great-grandfather was William who was married to Katherina Wegmann-Korte-Mense and his grandfather was Bernard who was married to Rosina Tholen. They settled in Illinois. William is buried in St. Libory. If you have any information on any of these, I would appreciate any help you can give me.

Just to let you know that my Mense connection turns out to be a medival name of Dutch settlers who settled the land in the region of my Mensink/Mensing ancestors. No German connections (until perhaps intermarriage after emmigration to America).
