I am related distantly to a Robert Mercer who emigrated from Co Armagh to Manchester CT. I am trying to find relatives of Arthur Mercer, also from Armagh, who went to USA around the last quarter of the 19th century. It is possible that some Mercers eventually arrived in Canada.

Descended from James Mercer b1831, Robert b1832, Henry b1835 who emigrated 1851-52 we believe and settled in Saranac and Plattsburg New York. Believe that they are from Tyrone, but also have heard that they are from Armagh. Any relation?

I ran across the pictures that you contributed to the Caledon Village website and just yesterday emailed the website to see if they would put you in contact with me. I have family that moved to America about 1850-52. James Mercer, b1831, Robert Mercer, b1832 and Henry Mercer, b1835. My aunt is pretty sure that they come from Caledon. Could these be children of your John and Anne?

I hope that you are still connected to this email and reply. Would love to see if our roots connect.
Judy

Looking for information about Dr. Nelson Mercer and his wife Mary. In December 1911 they lived at Abingdon, Saffrons Road, Eastbourne, England. In 1909 they traveled around the world, perhaps following their marriage. They may have been American or Scottish. All leads are appreciated.

I don't have any further information about John Cooper or Nancy Mercer.

Our records show Jonah Cooper [born 14 February 1814, Belmont County, Ohio] married Sarah Jane Dilley on 25 March 1843, in Belmont County. We know about their sons, Archimedes and Tobias, but show only one daughter, Hannah Ann Cooper [born 4 July 1846]. I have never heard of Lucinda or Nancy. Nor have we heard of other marriages. Of course, these are all possibilities since we really don't know much about this branch of the family.

I am a descendant of John and Nancy through their son Ozias b. 1827. They did settle in Belmont Co. Ohio and had a number of children. Jonah I believe was married 4 or 5 times, but I have identified only 3 children. Archimedes and Tobias both died in the Civil War. Jonahs daughter, Lucinda m. Hugh Adams and settled in Wayne Co. Indiana. Nancy prob. died in Belmont C. while John died in Tyler C. WV. about 1875 while living with his daughter Sarah Cooper and her husband H. Thomas Way.
I do not know the parents of John Cooper or Nancy Mercer Do you?

Ihave been doing a lot of work on my Mum's tree and have put the Mercers away for a while but I'm going to do some more searching. The 1911 census has just gone online, so I hope I can find out some more.
All I have at the moment is my Great Grandfather Thomas Mercer was married to Margaret Gaston in 1862 and his father was William Mercer who was a carpenter. Do you have any details of the marriage of William Mercer and Elizabeth Irwin? Please send me your e.mail address and I will send any info I have.

Regards Helen

I am looking for Nancy Mercer, born 3 March 1789 in Virginia. She married John Cooper on 27 October 1810 in Loudoun County, Virginia. I believe they moved to Belmont County, Ohio, where they had a son, Jonah, born 14 February 1814.

Nancy Mercer just appears, bears a child and exits stage left, or something. Does this ring any bells?

The amount was tore off the notice, I believe that the estate still exist and includes the downtown police station on Long Island New York and the law firm is receiving the year fee for the estate. My father and his cousin tried to review the records, before the deadline (if there was one) and the records were sealed. My grand mother was as close an heir as one could be.

James Cooper Martin, b 1842 is my 2nd Great Grandfather. He and Isabella emigrated to Australia in 1864, Queensland.

From my research so far, I have found that they had 6 children, one of which was Alica Mary Martin who was my Great Grandmother.

I have a fair bit of information on the family and would enjoy swapping with you.

Looking forward to hearing back from you,

Judith
Australia

Hi Helen,
Yes, I made it to the cemetery, with mixed results. Found some relatives, but due to time, some graves have long since disappeared. But several photos are worth looking at.

Have been dabbling at tracing others in the family, and the search is still on. Let me know your email address and I will forward what information I have, and we can go from there.

Regards Judith

acutally yes joseph and isaac were brothers, and they are from ohio, i found a census where it says ohio i also found some death certificates where isaac put down ohio as birth place. and also according to the age he has on the census it puts him being born in 1815 and not 1808 that is another confusing thing people put on there. the brothers moved to missouri around the between 1830 and 1840 and settled in washington county, around anthonies mill missouri, and i found a deed where joseph had purchaced some land. so tell me are you located in missouri?? i am in sullivan i have been to anthonies mill area, and i have been in potosi area where joseph was burried. never been to rabbit hollow cemetary but heard from my cousin there are several mercer grave sites there. and you may know this stuff as well, so i will just wait to hear back from you.

i dont have any pictures from that far back. non of isaac or any of his kids. just a few grandkids of his one being my great grandfather and a few of his brothers and sisters. but would like to see the one u have of alfred

I have recently started to research my Dad's family. His name was Mercer. My Great Great Grandfather was William Mercer from Bovally(a townland in Newtownlimavady) He was a carpenter.Ifound the marrriage of Isabella Mercer and James Cooper Martin in Church Records. She was a teacher and her father was William ,a carpenter,so I think this may be the same family. That would make Isabella my Great Grandfather's sister. His name was Thomas.Newtown Limavady is the old name for the town of Limavady which is a small town about 15 miles from the city of Londonderry where I live
