Hi there! So lovely to speak with you. I have less info than yourself, although plenty of info on my L'Heureux side. It's nice to hear that the family is still in Winnipeg. I am in Radium, British Columbia. The Mercier connection for me is Grandma Haughian-L'Heureux who lives in Edmonton. Let me know if you find anything new, and I'll do the same.
Michaelle

Hello, nice to meet another relative, I descend from Jean-Marie Mercier's (Josephine Georget) sister Marie Mercier.
My great-grandmother and Josephine are buried in St. Laurent Manitoba in the catholic cemetery. Relatives who descend from Alphonsine( the oldest who raised the sisters, when her dad and grandfather went to Saskatchewan) live here in Winnipeg. Am working on getting further back into the Merciers.

John, I do hope it is you...we have been out of touch so very long.
I have her birth as New York in 1848.

We have searched the Mt. Calvery Cemetery in vain for a headstone without any luck but much has been changed there.

She died March 22 1918 in Houghton County, MI. I believe she was still residing in Torch Lake or Lake Linden Osceola Twnshp.

Her husband, my gr.grandfather Georges Ludger Marcotte died tragically of a fall on Dec. 18,1888. I have a copy of his death certificate from Houghton County. Leocadie had given birth to twin daughters that April. my grandfather became the Sr. male member of the house hold at age 12.

I have taken a respite from this history as I have hit so many, many dead ends. Your message spurs me on again.

Thank you so very much, I am so pleased to learn exactly what Indian nation/tribes my ancestors belong to.

Joan Hulick, d/o Louise Marcotte Thatcher

Joan you are part Ojibwa and Wyandotte through the Cadotte family. Edouard Dulong's mother was Marie-Anne Truillier dite Lacombe, her mother was Charlotte Cadot. Charlotte was a Métis. Her father was the fur trader Jean-Baptiste Cadotte and her mother was Catherine, a Saulteux, that is, an Objibwa. Jean-Baptiste Cadotte's great-grandmother was Catherine Anenontha, a Wyandotte.

I have never heard anything about my great-aunt Léocadie being adopted. I have not found a birth or baptism record for her but that is because she was born in either 1846 or 1848 in New York and not Québec where the records are much better kept. Do you have an exact birth day for her?

JP

Your family fits our familly description. As I understand it, the father moved to Minnesota and half the kids followed. The father was a landscape architect. I believe he took a job in Minneapolis. I'll compare your names to the photo we have of the family.

It's been quite a while since you posted this query, do you have new information about Charles Mercier?

I'm searching for information about a prominent and wealthy Charles Mercier who was a resident of Philadelphia and was living on Third Street. In 1825 he was a member of the Washington Benevolent Society and was hosting their meeting at his home.

I am not related to this family. I am researching a Catherine Davis who claimed to have been raised in his family until she married a Williamson in 1836.
