I have the following information on Col. Samuel Meredith

Samuel MEREDITH was born 1732 in Hanover, VA, and died 22 Dec 1808 in Winton, Amherst, VA. He was the son of 2. Samuel M. MEREDITH and 3. Margaret BRAITHWAITE. He married Mary Jane HENRY, daughter of John HENRY and Sarah Dabney WINSTON. She was born 19 Jun 1738, and died 12 Aug 1818.

"Son-in-law of Sarah Winston Henry. Husband of Jane Henry. Colonel Meredith became the second owner of Winton in 1779.

He served in the French and Indian War and also in thge American Revolution. He was a member of the House of Burgesses and the Virginia Convention in 1776."

Marriage:
He was married twice. His first wife was Jane Henry, sister to Patrick Henry. They had four children. Margaret (Cabel?) was Samuel's second wife. Samuel and Jane Henry Meredith are buried in the Winton Family Graveyard in Amherst County, Virginia.

Occupation:
Samuel Meredith was a member of the First Continental Congress. He was elected a member of the Committee for Hanover County (Appointed 8 November, 1775.)
