Recent y-DNA test results have been performed for one or more descendants of Joe MEREDITH & Nancy SKAGGS, the progenitors of MEREDITH & MERIDETH families who were primarily distributed in Edmonson, Grayson & Hart Counties of Kentucky.

Joseph MEREDITH, c1762-1840, is widely considered to be the grandfather of Joseph TRULOCK, c1813-1867, who reportedly changed his surname from that of MERIDETH or MEREDITH.

Any male TRULOCK descendant with a paternal lineage traceable to Joseph TRULOCK could verify their paternal link to the MERIDETH / MEREDITH family by submitting a sample of cheek cells for a 12-marker, y-DNA test.

I am a great granddaughter of David Jackson and Eva. My grandmother was Gussie Vivian. I have several questions. Does any one have a birth certificate (and would be willing to email or post a copy) for David Jackson (or any of the ancestors) or know for sure that Woodford and Mary Polly were his maternal parents. I can't find any sources to confirm Mary was his mother. Also does anyone have any pictures of any of the ancestors? I have one of D.J. and Eva with my Gussie Vivian as a baby I could share.

Alot census records him as J.N. Merideth( spelled different ways). Anyway I have been told he had a sister named Mary and a brother named Jim.
I was just wondering if there are any connection with them??
I don't have J.N. Merideth's parnets, He was a orphan at a early age.

I have an Alfred MEREDITH who may have been Samuel Alfred since Alfred's first grandson was named Samuel Alfred. The family lived in various parts of the south, and they MAY have been in TN at that point.

I am looking for information of Nancy Merideth of Virginia.
In the 1850 Patrick County US Census, Nancy (20) had a son
named Richard f Foley 3, and she lived with a William Ayers
family. I believe she may have died in early 1850s, as her
son goes to live with Foleys in Mercer County. Living close by were a John (62), elizabeth 26, and bradley 20.
In the 1860 Census, Bradley Merideth is married and has a
daughter named Nancy.

I am researching a Nancy Merideth born about 1830 in Patrick county Va. and died I believe mid 1850. In my lineage, some have her listed as Mary A Murriday. She is said to have married an Alford Foley, but cannot eatablish it. She had a son, and named him Richard F Foley.

Thanks for the return message. Tell your uncle donnie hello. I have a picture of him and Jackie sitting on a porch rail in woodriver when he was about 12 or so. I remember this family well. They were a close family. Truk was a good man and brother to them. I left because my parents wouldn't leave us alone and I couldn't handle it. Being adopted I just didn"t belong with them. Truk tried to get back to me later but he and wilma had 4 kids and that was that. Alot of regets. I have been married to my to my present husband for 46 yrs. And have a large family. Jerry L. Jr. lives in Holt Mi. with his wife lorie. He is in the phone book if you have a need to get in touch with him. All of Jerry Jr. kids are grown and there are 2 girls in ill. One in Wisconsin with 2 kids. One here in Charlotte, Mi. with 2 kids and another due in april. One of the ones in ill was born retarded and lives in ahome,she is 31 the other lives in ill and has 2 boys. Thanks for the note. Mary Holt.

I am so glad that you posted a reply. The family that I am questioning is Joseph Merideth who married Rhoda Brooks in Edmonson County KY. They had the following children: Bettie (who married Daniel H. Dunn - son of Kitty Ellen Skaggs and J. Thomas Dunn), Rufus Merideth - died rather young (20's), Sarah and Emma (Emeline). I am sure this is my gggrand mother and gggrandfather. I would very much like any information you have on Jess Merideth. Jess is my gggrandfather. He was born approx 1830 in Ala and was married to a "Mary" - who I had no idea of her last name. They were living in Starkville, Miss in 1860 and had a daug named Martha age 4 at the time. Then in 1870 Jess and the daughter (now age 14) and my great grandfather "Jessee" born in 1866 (he is age 5 in 1870), but no Mary - just a housekeeper named Elizabeth Morgan. So I assumed that she might have been Mary's mother. Please let me any info you have. Jess' parents are both listed as being born in TN and I figured that his father's name was John, James or Jess. The Joseph Trulock you are referring to is the same one I was referring to in the previous message (Joseph Fannon Meredith Trulock who married Mariah Jane Sanders. Martha Jane Meredith/Trulock was born about 1845 in Edmonson County on Dog Creek near the Hart County Line. Joseph F. Meredith got in a dispute with the Edmonson County Court over a Tax Bill he said belonged to a cousin, Joseph Meredith. More than likely, he was correct as he had five first cousins and an uncle named Joseph Meredith in that area in the mid 1840's. Anyway, he had to pay the bill and he swore that would never happen again so, he changed his name to Trulock---the name of an old Indian that lived on Green River in the early 1800's.

I would love to have the descendants of Martha Jane Meredith/Trulock as I have nothing else on her.

I have some information that hopefully will help you and in turn you might be able to clear up my Merideth line. George William or Washington, based on various places I have pulled the information. We think he is a cousin to our line. My great grandfather was William Harrison Merideth, from Humphreys County, TN. He was born about 1842. He had a brother named "Watts" or possibly Wallace who may be the father to your George W. Merideth. Please contact me so we can compare notes.

Correction: Jesse Merideth died in 1834, not 1843. He moved to Dallas County, Alabama from Smith County Tennessee late 1822/early 1823 with his sons.

Your Jesse Merideth may be the son of Jesse Merideth, Revolutionary War soldier. In his Rev War Pension papers there's an 1860 affidavit from Jesse Merideth from Claiborne Parish, LA saying he is a son of Jesse Meredith pensioner who died in 1843 in Alabama. In 1860 there was no Webster Parish, LA; it was later created from part of Claiborne Parish and two other parishes.

we are trying to find out whoJasper Newton Merideth; real mother and father was. we know that he lived with the w.d.reynolds family. he was born jasper newton merideth on july 25th 1845 and died on august 7th 1936. on his death crtificate his last name is spelled mereideth. also heard it was down as jilker mereideth on death certificate.
