Mrs. Merriwether Dies Thursday

Funeral services for Mrs. W. T. Merriwether were held Saturday morning at the Pennington Methodist Church. The Rev. Forest Blount officiated.

Mrs. Merriwether died at her home near Newborn last Thursday morning following a long illness. A long time resident of Morgan County Mrs. Merriwether was the former Miss Nancy Bowden. She was sixty-four years old.

Mrs. Merriwether was born in Jasper County, the daughter of Mollie Binford Bowden and Hunter Bowden. They moved to the house they occupied near Newborn in 1903.

She is survived by her husband, a son, James Merriwether, two grandchildren, Leona and William Thomas Merriwether II; two brothers, W. F. Bowden, of Woodbury, and Walter Bowden, of Gray; four sisters, Mrs. C. G. Doster, of Milledgeville, Mrs. A. F. Wilson, of Sanford, Fla, Mrs. W. F. Harriette, of Sanford, and Mrs. Sam Spears, of Madison. Her other son, W. T. Merriwether, Jr. died several years ago.

Pallbearers were Gray Hinton, W. N. Zeigler, Sam Dykes, Francis Fears, Charles Robertson, and R. G. Taber. Interment was in the Shiloh Cemetery at Farrar.
