I have been following the descendents of Meriwether Lewis.

It's simple research since writer Benjamin P Thomas writes in his book STANTON The Life of Abraham Lincoln's Secretary of War on page 68 that Pittsburgh lawyer Edwin M Stanton married Pittsburgh socialite Ellen Hutchison a descendent of Meriwether Lewis.

Her father was Lewis Hutchison possibility Hutchison Lewis and he, in Benjamin P Thomas book, was a wealthy shipper in Pittsburgh. This leads to an unmarked gravesite at Versailles Cemetery in Pittsburgh known by cemetery records as the Lewis and Clark gravesite.

This leads to the Colston's and writer CSA Col John Eston Cooke the aide to CSA General JEB Stuart.

Writer John Eston Cooke wrote four books.

The Life of Thomas Jefferson
The Life of Robert E Lee
The Life of Hunter John Myers
The Life of Alexander Spotswood Dandridge

All of these people are cousins one way or the other and all lead back to the Lewis and Clark cemetery lot in Pittsburgh. This is the site where many people believe Meriwether Lewis had his boat built in the summer of 1803.

It also leads to Major Lawrence Lewis. Major Lawrence Lewis' wife, Nelly Custis, played the piano at Lt Robert E Lee's wedding to Mary Anna Randolph Custis in the early summer of 1831.

There is a published book on the wedding of Mary Anna Randolph Custis that lists all the cousins in the wedding party.
