GEORGETOWN - Meriwether, Melba Rose, 93, passed away Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at the Beehive Homes in Georgetown.
She was born in Crandall, IN on January 1, 1920, the daughter of Clarence and Beulah Baylor Ehalt. She was a homemaker, and a member of Valley View Golf Course where she was an avid golfer and was the Ladies Golf Club Champion in 1981 and 1985, she was also a quilt maker deluxe and was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Georgetown.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Lloyd Meriwether, a brother, Alvin Ehalt, a sister, Norma Kinder and daughter-in-law, Angela Meriwether.
She is survived by a son, Ronny Meriwether and a daughter, Carlotta (Carla) Meriwether both of New Albany, IN; brother, Edward Ehalt (Mary Jane) of Georgetown; three grandchildren, Chris (Alissa), Keith (Nancy) and Kevin (Pam) Meriwether; and seven great-grandchildren, Hope, Hannah, Kellie, Nick, Jack and Tate Meriwether and Brittany McCarty.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Georgetown. Burial will be in Wolfe Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home in Georgetown on Wednesday from 1-8 p.m. and after 9:30 a.m. Thursday.
The family suggests memorial gifts be made to her church.
