Maribel S. Smedley, 82, Haymarket, Va., and formerly of Sarasota, died Nov. 16, 2005.

She was born Nov. 29, 1922, in Sarasota and moved to Haymarket in 1984. She was a homemaker and a member of Beta Sigma Phi and First Baptist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Wright of Haymarket; a son, Robert O. of Naples; a sister, Martha Jasmer of Bradenton; a brother, James Meriweather of Mobile Ala.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday, with services to follow, at Toale Brothers Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel. Burial will follow in Palms Memorial Park.

Note: I think this may be Mary E. Meriwether, daughter of James Rice Meriwether and Louise Redd. Can anyone confirm this?
