FYI: The Sorenson Molecular Genealogy Foundation site offers free Y-DNA testing. As the test is free, they don't notify you of your results, though. However, they are easy enough to determine by going to the site from time to time and typing in the "Merle" name on their Y-DNA Search page.

Once you locate your pedigree, which you send in with your test kit, all you have to do is make note of the markers. You must have patience, though, as the test takes longer than a month to complete. It is one sure way to determine with great accuracy which family group is actually related to you.
