DRESDEN -- Vernon E. Meserve, 88, of Gardiner Road died Wednesday, June 8, 2005, at Augusta Rehabilitation Center, Augusta.
He was born in Dresden on May 1, 1917, the son of Stanley and Vesta Pushard Meserve. Vernon attended Bridge Academy in Dresden and worked for the International Association of Bridge, Structure, Ornamental and Reinforcing Iron Workers local union No. 549 Wheeling, W.Va. He served during World War II in the Merchant Marines. He married Beatrice R. Witham Meserve. She died Jan. 25, 2003.
Veron enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, reading and crossword puzzles. He was a member of the Masons in Dresden.
He was predeceased by a son, Hildreth I. Meserve, who died in 1946.
He is survived by two sons, Kermit Trussell of Pittston and Stanley Meserve of North Carolina; four daughters, Norma "Tootie" Blodgett of Pittston, Sally Tribbet of Richmond, Janice Tisher of Hannibal, Ohio and Lorraine Price of McMechan, W.Va.; 14 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A visiting hour will be held noon to 1 p.m. Saturday at Amesbury, White & Harmon Funeral Home, 39 Washington Ave., Gardiner, where a 1 p.m. funeral service will be held. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, Dresden.
