I am looking for connections to our family, and have just come across the messages between various Meths in the USA and Australia. I'm throwing this out there in the hope that there might be some connection if we can go far enough back. First, I am now 56 and living in Portugal Cove-St. Phillips, just outside the capitol city of St. John's in the province of Newfoundland, in Canada. My father, Eugen Meth from Innsbruck and later Vienna in Austria and his wife Lutina Dirks from Den Haag in Holland, came to Canada in 1944. I know quite a bit about my mother's side of the family, but very little about my father's side. He was born in 1910, had a sister Hildegard who was 2 years older, and an even older brother Fritz who died in his early twenties. My father fled the Nazi takeover of Austria in 1938 to Holland, where he met my mother. His sister and their mother, Fanny (Francesca) Drucker, also moved to Holland, his mother dying there in 1941, his sister in 1987. He died in the Toronto area in 1992.
My father's father was named Viktor Jacob, he was a military man who died in Vienna in 1938. He was one of a fairly large family which was distinquished by having three sets of non-identical twins. They were named Eugen and Eugenia, Louis and Louisa, and Henri and Henrietta. There may also have been an 8th sibling, but that is indefinite.
There are a few other Meths in Canada, but I have not been able to establish any connections. If any of the above rings a bell, would love to hear from you.
