Looking for William Metty born 1832 in Brunswick

He listed in a census his arrival in the US as 1844. I have been unable to locate an passenger record or any other family for him. I found him in an 1860 census in Indiana married to Garoline from Brunswick.

I imagine his German name would be Wilhelm Mette.

I am not sure even where to start. I have done very little research in overseas.

My ggg grandfather was William Metty born in 1833 from Brunswick, Germany. He lived in Indiana and served in the Civil War. I'm a descendant through his daughter Vora Wilhelmina Metty who married William Albert Rose.

I have a photo of HOMER METTY taken in Denver, Colorado. Looks to be vintage1890's. The only Homer Metty info I found on Ancestry was a 1880 census - whether it's him or not I can't be sure. Would like to pass to this on to a family member. Contact me.

I am sorry to report that I have no information on this family. Our line descends from Jacques Mete who arrived in Canada in the early 1700s.

Frederic was born in 1834 not 1824.

Do you know anything about Frederic and Mary Metty? Frederic was born in France and settled in Mexico, Oswego, New York where he is found in the census for 1860. He and Mary had 6 children from 1858 to 1864. Mary is still there with the children in 1870, but not in 1880. I think Frederic died before 1870 and Mary died before 1880, as several of their children are servants in Mexico, NY in 1880. Their children are: Charles 1858; Frederick 1860; Cora 1861; Homer 1863; Florence 1863; and Mary M. 1864. Do you know anything else about this family?

Dwight Barnes' article in the Lancaster Eagle Gazette recalling news from 1933, reported that Lancaster resident Fred Metty won a marbles championship game, sponsored by the Columbus Citizen newspaper, with the main prize being a free trip to the Chicago World's Fair.

Looking for any information about William and Virginia and the familys of them. Daughter, Rhea, was b. 1900 in West Brattleboro, Vt. Birth record is hard to read but looks like the family came from Qubec. Family history says that they went back and forth between Vt. and Canada.

My great aunt was Leota Sivey. She married Fred Metty. They had two children:Freddie and Genena. They lived in Lancaster, Ohio. All dead now. Are we related?

Yes Phyllis we are related but about four generations back to find a common ancestor. I met your grandparents at a reunion in Irish Hills about four years ago. I also met your great aunt Majorie Smittendorf and have known Pat Thorson for some years now. You are a descentdant of Samual Metty and Sarah White.
