You wouldn't happen to be related to a Catherine Metzger (not sure how the name is suppose to be spelled) that married Herman May? She was born in Bavaria (Bayern), Germany around 1833.

Thank you for replying so quickly.

I do not think they are a match. My Carl married Olla Marshall in Michigan, then travelled around the States, where ever the Y.M.C.A. sent him. That's why all their children were born in various States.

Thank you for help, I appreciate it very much.

Hello from Ontario; Do any of your Metzger etc. meander over to Michigan around 1890. I am searching for Carl Metzgar. He was born in Michigan in 1890 and married my cousin, Olla Marshall, between 1910 and 1916 there. They had four children born in South Dakota, Illinois and Michigan. I would appreciate any help in filling in the gaps.

Obit: Lillian Kenneson (nee Metzgar)

Albuquerque Journal - April 8 2003

Lillian Kenneson, 53, died Friday, April 4, 2003. Lillian was preceded in death by her mother Prisca Metzgar. Lillian is survived by her father, Alfonso Metzgar, sister, Dorothy Griego; daughter, Natalie Kenneson-Bridwell, David Bridwell; their son, Mark Bridwell as well as many loved ones. Mark is her only grandson; in addition she had three wonderful godchildren each of whom were her pride and joy. Lillian embraced the gift of life, allowing it to serve as a lesson to all who surrounded her. She is a servant of Christ, a steward of hope, and a symbol of unconditional love. All who know Lillian have been blessed as witnesses to a life of Christianity. Her presence reflected an array of beauty. Envision the colors through a stained glass window during sunset and she will be there; smell the life in a botanical garden, and she will be there; hear a symphony and she will be there. She will always be remembered as a host for grace, as one who was concerned for and loved the poor, and one whose strength continuously prevailed for those she loved. Her happiness was a stronghold for all of her family and friends and she will forever be present through spirit and love. Special thanks from Natalie; to all of the staff at Vista Sandia Hospice, as well as Dr. Saiki, and Dr. Ampuero, and each nurse who cared for my mom. All family and friends thank you from the bottom of my heart. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the NM Symphony Orchestra, 3301 Menaul NE, Albuquerque, NM 87107 or to the NM Zoological Society, 1320 Iron SW, Albuquerque, NM 87102. Lillian will be remembered on Friday, April 11, 2003 with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, and a Mass on Saturday, April 12, 2003, at 2:00 p.m., at the Aquinas Newman Center, 1815 Las Lomas Rd. NE.
Hi Bill! You didn't give me your email address so I'm sending this for the world to see! ha My name is Sandra Jean (Metzgar) Stout. My Dad was Charles Watson Metzgar. I believe your Dad was my Uncle Bill. There was an Uncle Buster (Edwin), Uncle Louie, Aunt May, and Aunt Ginny. Ring any bells?

I live in Juneau, AK and have lived here for 30 years now. My brother, Ron Metzgar also lives here. He just retired from teaching school.

Let me know if any of this makes sense to you. I am excited that someone finally answered my Metzgar quest! God, I was beginning to think that we were all some figment of some higher being's imagination! LOL

Obit: Alfonso Metzgar

Allbuquerque Journal - December 12, 2003

Alfonso Metzgar, a member of one of the South Valley pioneer families of Albuquerque, died December 5, 2003. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Prisca and daughter, Lillian Kenneson. He is survived by daughter, Dorothy Griego of Pittsburg, CA and husband, Franklin; daughters, Linda Trevarthen and husband, Michael, their children, Morgan and Kyle of Antioch, CA, Deanne Goddard and her husband, Robert, and their daughter, Sara of Philadelphia, PA. Natalie Kenneson-Bridwell, daughter, of Lillian of Albuquerque, her son, Mark Alan and his father, David Bridwell; nephews, Ivan and Gilbert Metzgar of San Francisco, CA, and many nieces and nephews of Albuquerque, NM. Alfonso retired as a Long Shoreman based in San Francisco, a well respected business man, strong supporter and contributor to Union Solidarity. He was also an avid gardener, traveled most of the world and considered both Albuquerque and San Francisco his home. Alfonso will be missed by many whether you knew him well or just met him once, he is “someone” you will never forget. He was one of the hardest workers you could have ever met, he was canning quince just two months ago when he suffered a stroke as well as a heart attack. The family wishes to express their appreciation to St. Joseph Hospital, Paloma Blanca, French Mortuary and his dedicated friends. As most of you know, Alfonso requested no services or flowers. He has been cremated. Friends may make contributions to a charity of their choice in his memory. French Mortuary 1111 University Blvd. NE 843-6333
