Hi,

She may have been related to an ancestor of mine named Lena Michaels (b 1858) who lived in Buffalo around the same time. She was married to David Harris. I have a photo of Lena's mother Bertha... It's a long shot that they are related, but let me know if any of this info sounds familiar. I have more information and would like to compare notes.

Carmen Michaels?

I am looking for a Carmen Michaels. Her name might have been Carmenita. I don't have much information, and I am not sure how accurate it is. She lived in San Francisco, and was possibly born there. I know she was there in 1941-1943. Rumor is that she was married in November 1942, and possibly seperated or divorced her husband a short time later. She might have later gotten back with him and ...only to possibly divorce and marry someone else. She would have been anywhere from 15-22 years old about this time. She possibly lived at 916 Vallejo St, San Francisco. She went to the roller rink in San Francisco and maybe hung out with the sailors and soldiers who came ashore. Sound familiar to anyone?

Michael born around 1858 MO - died 1930 AR
married: Jeremiah M Standridge around 1883 and
Rebecca Florence Michael born around 1870 MO - died 1899 Benton Hospital, AR married Marion Francis Tudor 1888.(2nd marriage for Rebecca).

These two were related and we are related through the Standridges and the Tudors.

Of particular interest to us is Rebecca who was placed in the Benton Hospital for the Insane around 1897-1899. We are looking for her admission papers in order to verify our time line on her marriage and children.

Any help would be appreciated.

I'm Kevin Michaels, the middle of 3 sons of John Wesley Michaels.

My Dad grew up in an orphanage along with his sister Ruby. The names Ethel and Olive ring somewhere in my memory.....but hey, I'm 53 and the memories of 40 years ago aren't all that clear anymore. lol Plus, Dad never spoke that much about his past.

My knowledge of the Michaels' family history is very vague, the only thing I know of my Grandfather {Dad's Dad} is that he worked for the railroad and died from an on-the-job injury, other than that my knowledge is just of Dad and our ensuing generations. I would love to hear more from anyone that has info.

Other things I've gathered are the name Moses Michaels, Dad {John Wesley} mentioned family in the Ozarks and the surname Swain is also involved somehow in the history.

Looking for William H. Michaels (1840-1918)

Hi,

I am looking for any information on William H. Michaels, who, according to the 1900 Census, was born in January 1840. He was reportedly from Allegany County, Maryland and, according to his death certificate, was the son of Philip Michael. I have been told that his middle name was Harmon.
Anyway, the earliest trace I have of him is his 27 August 1862 marriage to Rhoda Ann Kemp (1838-1892), which I believe took place in Fayette County, PA. He fought briefly in the Civil War (enlisting in 1862) but deserted on 18 July 1863. He had six children: James, Ossie Catherine, Jerusha, Harmon William, Susan Lavada, and John Mansfield. He lived in Somerset County, PA from the 1870s-1890s before moving back to Fayette County, PA, dying in Uniontown on 9 May 1918. His death certificate gives his surname as Michael and he was known to also use the spelling Micheals.
He reportedly had brothers named Ed and Lou, but I have found no evidence to support this. I have been trying to track down his ancestors for a few years now but have had no luck whatsoever, with his marriage being the earliest evidence of him.

Please let me know.
Thanks!
Ray Michaels

Looking for William Harmon Michaels (1840-1918)

Hi,

I am trying to trace the family of William Harmon Michaels (1840-1918). I believe that he was born in Allegany County. I am told that the family would "come down from the mountain" and stay in a "summer house" between Oakland and Mt. Lake Park. The summer house reportedly had a sign that said Midway wither in the yard or on the porch.
For whatever reason, I cannot find any trace of William in Maryland. He was born in January 1840 and I am told that his father's name was Philip (I believe this is from his death certificate...I'm currently waiting to get a copy of it). He moved to Fayette County, PA before 1862 as he was married there. He then moved to Somerset County, PA and then back to Fayette, where he died in 1918.

Please, anyone, help me find this man's family! I have been searching for a few years now, but to no avail.
Ray Michaels

Michaels in CT, NY, NJ areas

My great-grandmother Hilda E Michaels showing born 1910 in Connecticut. Her California Death Index shows her mother's maiden name to be Hinze and Census' show her parents were both born in Germany but I can't find anything on them or even thier names. She married Emil Lautenbach (immigrated from Hungary) born 1907, when she was 13 years old and had four children (Raymond, Ruth, Richard and Dolores) before her husband disappeared. I have photos from her daughter Ruth's wedding (my grandmother) that has referance to an Uncle Mike and Aunt Laura. They appear to be a couple so which one might be Hilda's brother or sister I don't know. It is even possible that they are from Emil's family. I would love to hear from anyone that might have some information on these people as unfortunately my father, brother and I are starting to look like the last of this particular line.

I am trying to find information on my Michaels family of Ohio. Mary E. Michaels was born approximatley 1863 and died sometime after 1930. She married Vincent Francis and they had at least three children: Rosa, George E. & Arthur E. Francis. Arthur was my grandfather who went on to marry a Drake. If anyone can help me I would be very thankful. My email is john@smokingbluegrass.com and my families information is on my website, http://www.smokingbluegrass.com

POW/MIA Korean War, MICHAELS

I am searching for the family of a soldier who was killed in the Korea War. When he entered service he gave Parter County, Indiana as his home of record. His remains were never recovered.

Soldier: MELVIN JAMES MICHAELS
Born: October 26, 1932 Caucasian
Date of loss: Sept 7, 1951, KIA

When the Korean War ended the enemy never returned or accounted for over 8,000 of our servicemen. They died in their hands. That was over 50 years ago. Since that time DNA has been perfected and also they are recovering remains in North Korea. Our government is obligated to return those remains to the proper family. DNA samples have been obtained from most of the families of these missing soldiers. For various reasons some families have not been located. The Michaels family is one of those missing.

When the remains are recovered and identified they will be returned to the family for proper burial. I am just an old (76 years) Combat Veteran out of the Korean War and thankful that I did return. I consider this a very noble cause and I hope that you can help in some way to find this family. For more information on the project you may go to http://www.jpac.pacom.mil/. My part in the program is to match up the lost families with the proper agency.

I will be grateful for any assistance in locating this family.

Harold Davis
40th Infantry Division
Korea ’52-‘53
910-791-2333
hgdavis@bellsouth.net
