Joseph Bortignon married Bertha (Berte) Michaux in Ladysmith April 20, 1920. I am wondering if anyone out there knows if Berte Michaux's parents were Desire and Eliza Michaux. I am thinking Berte had a brother Aline Desire Michaux and a brother Joseph Louis Michaux. Can you help me out please.

I am looking for information on Michaux's in and around Sumter Co. South Carolina. I have traced my line back to Marion Jacob Michaux b. 9/11/1847, Oswego, SC to a J. F. Michaux b. Oswega, SC and Mary Jenkins b. Oswego, SC. I can't seem to find any other strong information on J. F. Michaux under this or any other spelling. I found one reference to a Capt. J. F. Michaux who was a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church of Oswego. If anyone has any information, I'd appreciate it.

Are you a descendent of Eliza Duchene? She married Desire Micheaux in Ladysmith, B.C. Doing research on both Desire and Eliza to see who their parents were. I know Desire and Eliza were born in Belgium.

They had a son Joseph Louis Michaux and a daughter Josie.

Do you know Joseph Louis Michaux's wife's name. Living in Vancouver, B.C. Canada. He was born Jan. 29, 1897. Died April 30, 1963 in New Westminster, B.C. Only know of 3 children but that was with second wife Clarice Campbell.

I'm descended from Josephine Minchew who married Wiley P. Cook April 27, 1881 in Nacogdoches Co, TX . Her father was Henry F. Minchew who married Susan J.A. Yates. What evidence do you have that shows the Minchew name derived from the Minchaux/Michaux name? A Cook relative said he couldn't prove that lineage so I was wondering what you had. I hadn't been able to connect them, but I must be missing something.

Does anyone have any documented evidence that shows Abraham Michaux from France had a son named John who had a son also named John who's last name changed to Minchaux then the family name chaned to Minchew with his son John S? There are many people connecting the Minchew family line with the Michaux family, but so far I can not locate anyone who has any documented evidence for proof. I would appreciate an information anyone may have available.

They had a son Joseph Louis Michaux. Could be more children I do not know.

I believe Desire had brothers A. Michaux of Victoria and L. Michaux of Ladysmith.

Hardin County Newspaper Abstracts-1909

Fri., January 8, 1909-Mrs. Ada Meador returned from Louisville where she visited her children, John, Gabe and Ada.

Fri., January 15, 1909-Mrs. Ada Meador and daughter, Miss Ada of Louisville, attended the funeral of Mrs. Guy Meador in Elizabethtown on Wednesday. Mrs. Guy Meador died at St. Joseph's Hospital in Louisville on Tues., as the result of an operation performed on her for appendicitis last week. She lived in Elizabethtown. Before her marriage she was Miss Suselle Robertson. She married Guy S. Meador and had one child who survives. Her mother, Mrs James Robertson, a sister, Mrs James Baird and a brother, Steadman Robertson, also survives her. Burial Tuesday in City Cemetery.

Tues., September 21, 1909-Miss Ada Meador visited her brothers, Guy and John, in Louisville. She was accompanied by her niece Madge who went to see her father, Guy Meador.

I noticed Madge Michaux's death certificate and date in Volusia Co FLA and would like to know more about that and verify whether Madge was married to a Kessinger, as posted on a Johns website. Madge was my father-in-law's first cousin.

parents Herman Michau (1897-1976) and Ethel Michau (1903-196?) maiden name Manson
Also one other child born to Herman and Ethel was Dorothy Michau (1923-????)

Jean Mishaw and Janne Cooper Mishaw

Does anyone know anything about Jean Mishaw and his wife Janne Cooper Mishaw originally from England and France? They christened a son named Abraham at the Threadneedle Church which is the Fr. Huguenot Church in the UK in 1679(approx.). I believe they with their son Abraham came to South Carolina shortly afterwards. There is another line "The Michauds" that also christened an Abraham at the same church but earlier on around 1630. They also apparently came to South Carolina.

Which Michaux line are you inquiring about? I am related to the Michau(d)(x)s who came to South Carolina and settled in the Santee River region. Where did you family originate from? When they left France did they first go to England? If you check the Mormon online data site you can search for your ancestors and see that many of them settled in England for a time and attended the French Huguenot church on Threadneedle Street.

Hi, my husband's family lived in Louisville. Guy S. Meador had a daughter named Madge Meador. Apparently when she was young she lived with her grandmother Ada Jones in the Breckinridge and Meade Co areas. After her widowed dad remarried she lived with him in Louisville. I wonder if this is your relative. I want to know what happened to the progeny of my husband's great-uncles, of whom Guy was one.

Hello From Germany - Did anybody come across the name "Mischo" when doing research on the name "Michaux"? In my familyn records I can identify various spellings of my name (Mischo, Migeon, Migot, Migeaux, Michau, Michaux). I wrote to some 120 people in Luxembourg + France these days looking for more info of our family history. I know that my ancestors come from the Alsace-lorraine area. I have a more or less complete family tree of my line back to 1723. The US line started in the late 18hundreds when some Mischos emigrated to the US.

I am a descendent of a Mitchell too, who also changed the name. Mine came from France to Canada and then to the New England states and beyond. Throughout my research I have found many variations of the Michaux name ... pronounced "Me-show". Here are some variations: Micheaux, Michaux, Micheau, Michaud, Michau. My line goes Micheau then Michaud then Mitchell.

The story behind my Mitchell name change(in my line)was for business reasons around the 1880-1900. My g-grandfather found using a French name was a deterent, but my father said it was because he couldn't speak or write English vary well and he had a metal stamp made with his name on it (to stamp on all the wagons/carriages he built)and the man who made the stamp couldn't speak French and it was a mistake???
