My maiden name is Miciotto. My Great-grandfather came to the US (New Orleans)in the 1890's from Cefalu, Sicily. His name was Guiseppe Miciotto (b. 1/9/1862, d. 12/18/1942 in Franklin,LA). He was the son of Diego Miciotto. The only name I have for his mother is Salvatora. I have no clue if that is a first name or last name. Guiseppe married Mary (Josephine?) Michel (b. 11/18/1872, d. 12/25/48)in New Orleans. She was also Sicilian, but I'm unsure if her family was from Cefalu.

They had six children.(All deceased now) My grandfather, Diego (Joseph) b. 1895, d.1975; Doraphine b. 1897; Mary, b. 1898; Rosario, b. 1900; Concetta, b. 1903; Salvatore, b. 1910.

All remained in South Louisiana, with the exception of Mary(Mamie). She married Tony Miciotto (yes, her cousin)and they raised their family in Shreveport, LA.

I believe, but am not positive, that Tony Miciotto was the son of Guiseppe Miciotto(a nephew of my Great-grandfather)and Bridgette Serio, both originally of Cefalu.

There are only a few people with the Miciotto surname in South Louisiana. More reside in the Shreveport area.
