Hello,

I think I am your uncle. My home email address is jmickels@verizon.net. I and my wife are currently traveling and will be home hopefully before Friday, and can better communicate with you. I'm so sorry that it has taken so long for this to happen.

My full name is John Kristian Mickelson and am the older brother to David. I am currently not in contact with him, but will correct that shortly. Much as I like this iphone, it's a lousy way to talk thru such an important thing.

John
Greetings.
It doesn't look like May and Mary are the same person, even though they were born the same year. May, I believe, has at least two brothers named Martin and Otto. She did, however, have a niece named Helen. Helen was living with May and Albert and another nephew, Marvin Wagner. Marvin is my step-grandfather and the reason for my inquiry. I'm trying to discover how Marvin Wagner was related.

Could May Mickleson be the same as Mary Mickelson born 1885, daughter of Anton and Helene Marie Mickelson. In 1900 the family lived in Hay River, later in Wilson.

Mary's sibling was Josephine, Annie, Minnie, Henry, Adolph, Alma and one more. Mary had one niece, Helene born about 1916 (daughter of Henry) This match with the 1930 census for Albert and Mary Gretzinger.

ISO Ann Mickelson by son b. 11/6/1962

I am searching for my friend, Harley. The following info was provided by his adoptive mother but she has not always told him the truth about his biological past. She is still holding back vital details so I am not sure how much is fact. Harley and Carmen's daughter has medical problems and we need to find his biological family if possible.
He was born Ronald Lee Mickelson to Ann Mickelson. Ann was married to Mike Mickelson at the time. The story goes that he was born in Landstuhl Germany on November 11, 1962, where Mike was stationed. Mike is not his biological father. Apparently Ann had an affair with Mike's best friend.
When Harley was roughly two years old Mike felt Harley looked too much like 'the other man' and divorced Ann. They were living in California at this time. Ann allowed her babysitter Peggy to adopt Harley. Ann and Mike are supposed to have had two sons and a daughter at this time. The little girl had the nickname 'Pickles' and was between 1 and 3 years older than Harley. Mike got custody of all the children.
The attorneys that handled the adoption were Thomas J Twohigs, Myron B Haas, and Richard M Schnall who had a practice together at the time (1964?). All three attorneys have since passed away. The adoption happened in Seaside CA.
When Peggy adopted Harley his name was Lawrence O'Neal Tonkin. She was married to Gaylord O'Neal Tonkin at that time. Peggy later divorced Gaylord and we believe sometime around 1970 she married Harley Suzor Sr and subsequently changed Harley's name to Harley Suzor Jr.
We have been told that his mother was German. That the Mickelson family lived in Sacramento CA. And it is possible that Mike Mickelson took the children after the divorce and left the state.
If you can offer any advice or additional information, the family would be so grateful!
God bless.

Louis Mickelson of Manistee county, Michigan in 1887

Thursday, June 2, 1887 Page 4

Louis Mickelson was shot and instantly killed on the 25th by Amos Rhodes at a logging camp four miles south of Manistee. During the past four months Mickelson had employed Rhodes and wife as housekeepers on his farm, a few miles south of that city, and during the spring Mickelson has been engaged, in addition to his farming duties, in logging about one mile from his farm.

During that afternoon Rhodes came to Jark's store in the Village of Oak Hill, and bought some small buckshot, and after he had put the same in his pocket remarked that he was going to shoot Mickelson. Returning to the farm Rhodes learned that Mickelson had gone to his logging camp to load logs. Rhodes took a gun, loaded it, and said he would hunt up and kill Mickelson. The son of Mickelson hearing the remark, ran to his father and apprised him of his danger but his father treated it as a scare. Soon after Rhodes appeared where Mickelson was at work with a half dozen men and getting within twenty feet of Mickelson called out to him, "if you have anything to say, say it, as I am going to shoot you" Mickelson said, "Go away and don't molest me in my work" whereupon Rhodes aimed the gun and fired, over 100 shots striking Mickelson in the left breast, some penetrating to the heart, causing instant death. Rhodes returned to his home and went to bed, where he was afterwards arrested and placed in jail.

The friends of Rhodes claim that Mickelson had been intimate with Mrs. Rhodes and that Rhodes is crazy. Mickelson was 45 years of age, has always been a hardworking quiet person, had a wife and several children who reside in the city, where the children can enjoy better educational advantages. Rhodes is 26 years old, of German descent and a few years ago came from the eastern part of Ohio. He has a wife and one child.

I am not related to this family, just passing on this information which comes from a website called "Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan Newspaper Birth, Marriage and Death Notices." The link for the site is listed below.
Joyce

http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/%7Ewjmartin/deat1887...
