Hi Timothy, my grandfather was Joseph Mifsud, also from Valetta Malta, but the ancestors you mention don't ring a bell in my family tree, although they could be related to brothers & sisters of my great great grandparents.

It is entirely possible, but I do not yet have marghrita or briffa in the family I am researching. I don't yet have access to records in Malta, so haven't been able to trace the extent of the family there yet.

I am Angela Mifsud, daughter to Louis Mifsud and Jill Chambers. My father is son of Mary and Joseph Mifsud, and Joseph was from Malta himself. We live in New York, by Albany, and many of our Mifsud relatives live out here.

hi to all Mifsud's in the world . My name is Jeannie Mifsud and I am from Innisfail north Queensland Australia. My parents were Anthony and Christina(Fenech) Mifsud(both deceased). Originally from Dingli Malta. Came to Australia about 60 years ago and settled in the far north (Innisfail) this is near Cairns. They had 4 daughters Mary(deceased)Doris, Jeannie and Anne.I know i have plenty of relatives in Victoria and NSW. There was Bill and Henrey Mifsud in Victoria and Carmel( i have meet) Mifsud in NSW. All I know is that they were of a big family and plenty still remain in Malta. It would be nice to talk and to find relatives that i have never spoken too.

I'm helping a friend research her family and am hoping to track down her great-grandmother's family (Mifsud). From what we have been able to find, her great-grandmother was Marian (Mary Ann or Marianna) Mifsud, born in Birchircara, Malta, in 1899. She married Michael Meli (Melio) in Sliema, Malta, in 1923. Michael Meli, born in Sliema, Malta, in 1897, immigrated to the US in 1930 and supposedly met up with his brother-in-law, Emmanuel Mifsud, in New York. Marian and her children followed Michael in 1935, also immigrating to New York. We are assuming that Emmanuel is Marian's brother, but have not been able to track him down as we do not know his age or when he immigrated. A ship manifest from Michael's immigration says that Emmanuel was living at 41 Jackson Street, New York City, in 1930. That's all we've got... I'm working on a friend's family tree with the same name, also from Malta. My friend had a great-grandmother Marian (Mary Ann, Marianna) Mifsud born in Birchircara, Malta, about 1899. She married a Meli, or Melio, in the 1920's and immigrated with her children to the U.S. in 1935. Meli family is from Sleima, Malta. Her husband came over to the U.S. in 1934, and met up with his brother-in-law (Marian's brother) Emmanuel Mifsud. I'm in the process of tracking him down. My mother is Georgina Mifsud, daughter of Anthony Mifsud who had a brother Luigi approx born end of 1800's. My grandfather was born approx 1898, apparently in Milan, Italy (speculation) and grew up with his father Georgio and mother in Qormi, Malta in the early 1900's. He moved to Detroit, Michigan in approx 1920 and was one of the first engineer designers for Henry Ford (Fords). He moved back to Malta and met Josephina Spiteri and brought up their 4 daughters in Fleet Street, Gzira, He was otherwise known as Tony the Mechanic, owning 3 garages before becoming blinded in his 50's. I'm researching my mother's family in Malta. Her name is Georgina (nee) Mifsud and moved from Malta to Scotland in 1953, but am making a family tree of he Mifsud's. I know the Mifsud family are/were a hugely popular name in Malta but know her father was Antonio Mifsud, born approx 1898, otherwise known as Tony the Mechanic, owning 3 garages in Malta which were sold when he became blinded when he was approx 50. He was apparantly born in Milan but grew up in Qormi in Malta with his father Georgio, his brother Luigi, his sister Stella). He married Josephina Spiteri in Malta in approx 1928 and lived in Fleet Street, Gzira, where my mother grew up with her 3 sisters, Carmena, Mary and Rita Does your father, grandfather know of any of these Mifsuds...would love to hear from you either way. I am also looking for a Walter Lovelace. This one was in the Norwalk Ohio area. His sons also grew up in foster homes. He was married to Rose Mary Hartman and Gloria Andrews. He has five children between them, 3 girls and 2 boys. I don't know anything else about him.

We'll if your still searching, you've found another Mifsud. My borther is nmed Marc and we both live in Melbourne Australia. I also have a sister Elissa living in Melbourne also.
My Grandfather's name is William (deceased) and my father's name is Ron..

Hi all you Mifsud's, I'm a Mifsud from canada, (Toronto area) my father's name is Carmen(Charles), he's from Malta.He came to Toronto around 1972. All I really know about he's family is that he has a sister (whom still lives in Matla) named Tessa. If anything rings a bell give me a shout, please!
By the way my grandpa (Gatt) told me that Mifsud means "mud puddle" in english?

Hi there,

I am from an area of Toronto that had many Maltese immigrants. The Toronto phone book shows over 200 people with the name Mifsud. Many people have commented on how unique our name is and believe that it is of Arabic origin. It does not sound like a Spanish name. In fact, someone that I was introduced to, who has an arabic background, explained that a school mate of his had the same last name in Libya.

I`m spanish, from Valencia. Do you know? Our Surname is from Malta, but in 18th came bussiness families from there to Spain, and they stayed in the mediterranean coast. In a land called "La Safor", 50 km. far from Valencia, are there many "mifsud" and "mifsut". My mother's family come from there. I tell you some localities: Tavernes de la Valldigna, Oliva, Simat, Gandia... You can find them in a globus or a plain. (if you can see, my English isn't very good, but that's no important). So, that's all I know about our surname. In spanish is very dificult to tell and everybody have problem to write it (if they don't know you very well). So, hasta pronto y saludos de España.
