I will try to add a little to your query. I am a niece of Aunt Sue by marriage. My father, Thomas Mikulin, was brother to Edward Mikulin. There were 9 brothers and 3 sisters in that family. My mother, Normalie, and Aunt Sue were close sisters-in-law. The whole Mikulin family was very close. Aunt Sue's husband, Edward, is buried near Dime Box, Texas in Hranice Cemetery. I remember Aunt Sue as a loving person who was a great cook. We always looked forward to visits with Uncle Edward and Aunt Sue. I do remember her having diabetes. I wish I could help you more but I never got to know her side of the family. All of the bothers and sisters in the Mikulin family are deceased but there are three sisters-in-law living in Pearland, Spring, and Giddings, Texas who knew Aunt Sue.

Jan,

It is good to hear from you. But I don't believe I have talked with you. About a year ago I ran across another Matt Mikulin on the board but have never spoken with him either. A lot of people was confusing him with me. When I confronted the issue some very negitive indivuduals attacked me on the board. I thought that this was not for me if these type of people use what I thought was a good thing, tried their best to attack and hurt other individuals. So I have not been involved much with communicating. I live in Arlington. I do not give out my phone number over the board but my e-mail is (emikulin@yahoo.com). Take care, Matt

If you look at the Mikulin websites you will see that the Mikulins in all areas no matter what country they were very succesful in the mechanical field. I enjoy looking at the pictures of the town of Mikulin. You are correct in saying that we are all kinfolk. The Mikulins just landed in different ports. My Great Grandfather landed in the port in Galvestion Texas from the Czeck Republic. I imagine what ever ship they boarded led them to the part of the US where they settled. God Bless you and as you said we are all Mikulins kin in some way......Matt

Hi Matt! i really think that if we go back far enough, all the Mikulins will be related - - but I sure wish I could find the connection here in the US. I only heard the towns Lazi and Mracline in Croatia mentioned so I don't know about Molat. I hope someday to get lucky and find out more - and when I do, will be sure to let you know. Thanks for responding.
My name isn't Matt - but it was Mikulin!! I keep checking the boards and see all you Texas Mikulins and wonder if you're related to the PA/OHIO Mikulins. I've posted my info before but never received a response. My grandfather Jacob Mikulin b 17 March 1885 in Lazi, Yugoslavia. His mother was Helen and he had a brother John who moved to Florida. Jacob married Rose Kos and lived in Farrell, PA. Does any of this sound familiar to anyone???

My mom is coming too, she's been there many times. BUT, it's looking more like our trip will have to wait until August, due to my son's summer class he has to take. I just found out yesterday. I'll call you later on this morning, after I get the kids to school.

All My Love,
Lana
Hi Tom - I just checked my old mail and found Franjo's address and he lives in Busevec - not Mracline. His wife is Katarina and they have one daughter who lives in Germany. Living in the same town, he's probably kin which means we are related. Do you know him? Janet

You live near a cousin I found there - Franjo Mikulin. Do you know the family. Who are your grandparents? If you have any history on your family, I would love to have it. My grandfather Jacob had a brother Josip and Ivan and a sister - who's name I don't know. My grandfather was born in 1885. Do you know a Krzancic family there? My email address is janet_wright2002@yahoo.com if you could send me information. My son and daughter are 29 and 34 but they too loved the Grateful Dead. What is your major in school?

I was in a Croatian tamburitza group when I was a child and loved attending the Croatian dances and picnics. There are many Croatians who were born here whose parents or grandparents came to America and many who were born there and live here now.

Thank you Tom. I know Franjo is Frank in American. What would Janko be? My grandfather, Jacob, was born in 1885 but maybe they were cousins. Does she have any other information about the family - other brothers and sisters of Franjo maybe? The Franjo I am in touch with in Busevec is in his early 70's now. Have you ever been to America?

I wouldn't know where to begin about what's going on in America. You can check the news here and read all about it. So what do you do for fun when you aren't studying in school? Do you have dances and picnics there where you can do the kolos? I miss that. Before I moved, we went to picnics and listened to the tamburitza groups and danced. and LOVE the lamb done outside on a spit.

Tom - please email me at janet_wright2002@yahoo.com. Then we can communicate there. I would like to ask questions about Busevec and Croatia. It is good that you work and go to school and don't go out to clubs. Too many young people today get caught up in the party life at college and not pay attention to their studies and what you do today, affects the rest for your life. I have a friend who has a villa on the Adriatic. I saw pictures only but it looks so beautiful there. He was born in Croatia and visits there often.

My great-great grandfather was Frantisek Mikulin, he came to America. He was from Croatia. Ask your mother and see if he was a relative. His son, Joseph, was my grandfather Ed's father. Joseph was the father of MANY children! Frantisek arrived at America in Galveston, Texas, in the late 1800's. Get back to me. I've been trying to create a family tree.

I just found this site and have just recently started checking into my ancestry. My father was Frank Mikulin - who's father was Jacob Mikulin who came to this country in the early 1900's. I found a Jakob Mikulin listed at the Ellis Island site and under his name in the registry is a Robich. There are Robich families here in Pennsylvania but don't think we're related. My grandfather was born in Lazi, Yugoslavia and lived in Mracline. That's information I got from other family members - not verified yet. Do those towns sound familiar to you?

Wendy

Better late than never.
53 MIKULINs came thru Ellis Island. Looking at the first names and location, they seems to point to former country of Yugoslavia. Is your ROBICH an "americanized" version of ROBIC^ ?
www.ellisislandrecords.org
Slovenia's and Croatia's phone site is listing MIKULIN and ROBIC^.
www.croatia-in-english.com
www.rat.de/kuijsten/navigator (surname navigator)

Check out http://genforum.com
You will need to find in which country the village of Lazi is.
