Classification: Query
Surnames: MILAN, CAMBRA, ROJO
My wife's father and I seem to have traced his mother's family, MILAN from Mexico to Cuba and back to Spain just before the late 1890's. The story told by Carmen MILAN ROJO was that her parents left Spain for Cuba just before the Spanish-American War. When things got too hot for them there, they left Cuba for Mexico, but were picked up by an American warship. The warship deposited them in Mexico, and shortly thereafter, my wife's grandmother was born in Nueva Rosita, Coahuila, Mexico, 31 July 1902. Her mother's name was Candida CAMBRA MILAN, her father's name is still unknown. Candida had at least two other sons, Jose and Vicente, and I've found border crossing records, census records and even documented the unfortunate death of one of Jose's newborn infants in 1916 in Eagle Pass, Texas.
