Abia Millard b 1849 Sullivan Co TN son of Timothy Millard

Right up front, these are not my ancestors and my interest in them is casual at best. With that said, here’s some new information I just found a few minutes ago.

I believe I’ve cracked the case of my target, ABIA ALFRED MILLARD, b. 1849, TN. I managed to find 11-month old Abia Millard in the 1850, 1860, and 1870 censuses of Sullivan Co, Tennessee, with his parents: TIMOTHY MILLARD b. Abt. 1811 TN and HAPPY MILLARD b. Abt. 1821TN. The following should explain everything. Updates and corrections are always welcomed.

1. ABIA ALFRED6 MILLARD (TIMOTHY5, TIMOTHY4, SAMUEL3, TIMOTHY2, THOMAS1) was born Nov 1849 in Sullivan County, Tennessee. He married SUSANNAH E. ? 1876 in Tennessee. She was born Sep 1849 in Tennessee.

Notes for ABIA ALFRED MILLARD:
!1850 Census of Tennessee, Sullivan Co, Div. 1, page 38, stop 375.
!1860 Census of Tennessee, Sullivan Co, Civil Dist. 4, page 33, stop 223.
!1870 Census of Tennessee, Sullivan Co, Civil Dist. 4, Bristol P.O., page 1 (stamped 403) stop 2.
!1880 Census of Tennessee, Sullivan Co, Civil Dist. 3, ED 17, page 20 (stamped 366), stop 147.
!1900 Census of Kentucky, Ohio Co, East Beaver Dam, ED 108, sheet 10 (stamped 191), stop 190.

Children of ABIA MILLARD and SUSANNAH E. ? are:
i.
Thanks for informing me that MARY WEAVER is the daughter of Sullivan County, Tennessee, residents, FREDERICK ABRAHAM WEAVER 1759 - 1839 (an Am. Rev. War Vet) and CATHERINE PETERS b. Abt. 1760.

Can you connect Mary Weaver and her husband, ABIA MILLARD 1789 – 1846 to my target, ABIA MILLARD b. Abt. 1849 Tennessee? As you know, Abia Millard b. Abt. 1849 Tennessee, migrated from Sullivan County to Ohio County, Kentucky. But I have been unable to trace any of his MILLARD ancestors.

If you know the ancestry of Abia Millard b. Abt. 1849 TN or have any further information about him, please post same on this board. Thanks.

Barry Ashby
Hey, it's good to see we have more kin-folks. I dropped out of the research mode more than 10 years ago. I have a large family name list that a cousin in Georgetown,TN. gave me. I also have a few photo's. My farther backwerds was: Paul Jackson, Thomas, Jesse. From there they go to Bluntville in Sullivan County, TN. I would like to share information with all Millard's. psmillard@msn.com

This is getting interesting. I know that there were 3 Millard brothers who were French Hugonauts who went to England during religious persecution and eventually came to the US. I had researched Joel and Pollard and several Squires and had more or less eliminated them as being Franklin's family. I am beginning to think that he might have been the illegitimate son of one of the girls in the family and raised by her parents. It's just a hunch since I can find nothing. But George B. Millard I am sure was a close relative because he always lived near the ones that I am sure are my relatives. They lived close together in McPherson, Kansas and in Garfield County, OK. Please keep in touch.
Dora

Turns out people in my mother's family marry people named Millard - I can account for 3 instances, and I don't consider it a common name.
Then, my father's uncle (Millard) researched that family...
My Millard's emigrated from England to Rehoboth, Ma. but apparently another Millard family (not related) emigrated to New England in about the same time period - hence my inquery because I know that one of my ancestor's sons moved to Vermont, but not Joel or his father I now know.
So next I need to find out about a 'Mary Millard' who married Edward Landon of Dorset, Vt. in 1905.
I think that's a new thread.
There is no Franklin in my vertical alignment, but I'll check all my material and see if I can come up with a Franklin Millard anywhere.

I see that you got an answer to your question about Joel Millard but I was wondering which Millard family you were from. My great grandfather was Franklin Millard and in the census sometimes he said he was born in Vermont and sometimes in Conn. I have hit a brick wall in finding out who his mother and father were. I found a Franklin Millard but it isn't the right one. Can you help me out? You can call me, Dora, at 816.550.8933. Thanks.

My soon to be husband is a Millard and figured I would add his info to my family tree since we are expecting as well. His name is Richard Eugene Millard b. 12 Sep 1962 his father was Donald Richard Millard

* Birth 31 Aug, 1939 at Cass Lake, Minnesota, USA

* Death 14 Mar 1990 at Rock Falls, Illinois, USA

His Mother is Ruth Joanne Klinger. I am still trying to find information on her. His Grandfather I believe was George Eugune Millard b about 1914 in Minnesota. I know he has an Uncle Wayne Millard and a Sister named Hope. He isn't interested in helping me with this project. So any information anyone may have would be greatly appreciated.

Millard-Wood Vermejo Ranch connection

My father was Gordon Leonard Millard who was born in Colorado in 1914.

He always used to talk about his teenage years at his Aunt's ranch in New Mexico where he would spend his summer vacations from prep school. According to my father, it was the 2nd largest ranch in the US at the time of over 300,00 acres, the largest being in Texas.

We travelled through New Mexico when I was a kid an were given permission to visit the property which had since been divided. That would have been in the early 1960's.

After much searching I have finally found out the Ranch was Vermejo Park Ranch in Colfax County, New Mexico, now owned by Ted Turner and 588,880 acres, but I have not been able to find any of my family's ownership, deeds or any other connections to the Vermejo Ranch.

My Dad's Parents were Douglas Millard and Lillian Mae Woods. Possible Aunts with connections were my Aunt Virginia Millard or Leonora Chestnut Wood 1875
who married George Newell Armsby,

Yes, Isaac and Sylvia E. E. (Millard) Stroud d/o Ebenezer and Hannah (Hurd) were first at Westpoint, Sauk?, WI - this may be Columbia Co., I'd have to check. They are buried I believe in Hampden Cemetery. It is Morrell Stroud I'm more familiar with because he purchased a farm from Ebenezer Millard and Hannah Hurd in Dekorra, Columbia, WI. Ebenezer and Hannah retired to Jamestown, Wauseca, MN with a granddaughter - who well may be one of Morrell's children.

Ebenezer is a bro to Stephen Millard and Mary Tuttle, who owned an adjoining farm on what is now known as Black Rd. You can see the Wisconsin River from the property. Morrel and his wife are buried in a now abandoned cemetery in Dekorra named the Rockwell Cemetery, it was near Hastie School #7 at Poynette/Lake Wisconsin. The genealogy group of Portage has headstone photos online, as well as cemetery inventories. Check Rootsweb's Columbia Co. page. You will find Isaac abit NE of Morrell. Stephen Millard and father-in-law Solomon Tuttle were from the Otsego Co. and Oswego Co., NY areas. Stephen's ancestors were primarily from CT.

Stephen's son, William Henry (b 1848) Millard was b. NY, lived in Dekorra, then Portage, Columbia, WI. William's family is listed on Ancestry.com for public use. William's spouse was Hannah Cronkhite, b. NY.

Stephen Millard leaves NY for WI following the death of his father, Nathan(iel) Millard (1790-1850), wife Hannah died in 1848.

The public library at Portage, WI can furnish copies of the Rockwell cemetery inventory also.
Isaac Stroud and wife, Sylvia E. Millard, are buried in Hampden Cemetery, Columbia Co., WI. See usgenweb.org for an index of the Hampden Cemetery burials, and you will find them listed, along with year of death. You possibly could get additional information by contacting the Portage Public Library, Portage, WI. Sometimes they will look up obits or newspaper filmed archives one person at a time.

Sylvia E. Millard was the daughter of Ebenezer Millard and wife Hannah, who lived in Dekorra township, near the Interstate90/39 overpass, on what is now Black Rd., Poynette, WI. Ebenezer and Hannah moved to Jamestown, MN (with granddaughter and family) and sold their farm to Morrell Stroud, son of Isaac. Isaac and Sylvia are buried in Columbia Co. (cemetery name I'll send you later), while Morrell and wife are buried in an old cemetery (now claimed as private property by inheritee of adjoining farm) called Rockwell Cemetery. There are multiple Millards in this same cemetery. See the usgenweb.com site for Columbia Co. listing/index. Our relative is a brother to both Ebenezer and Albert Millard. His name was Stephen Millard. I believe Ebenezer B. Millard of the Ironton/Baraboo area of Sauk County to be the son of Ebenezer and Hannah of Dekorra.
Stephen Millard is the son of Nathan(iel) Millard of Palermo, Oswego, NY who died 1850-51 and buried in Upson Corners, Oswego, NY cemetery with wife, daughter, and mother-in-law.

Joseph (Caldwell) Millard 1931-40 Calgary

I'm looking for information on Joseph Caldwell, he used his wifes surname Millard and lived in Calgary (owned or ran a boarding house) possibly at this addresses. He came from England where he left a wife and 3 daughters. I belive he was a Captain in the Royal or Lanc lancers 1914-18 war but can find no record of him in the comendations lists (I'm told his was a battlefield commission).

735 - 12 Ave West, Calgary, Canada

He lived with Olive Elizabeth Millard (nee Smith, Michelden, Westbury on Severn 1888) who may have been using the name Eliza Beale, Olive Beale or Olive Millard (as you might expect :-).

He was the father of Patricia Marcia Millard and the step father of Maud Olive Millard (she attended central High School and Sunalta High School).

he may possibly be this person from the deaths
Burnsland | Calgary| Caldwell,	Joseph| died 1935

Any information or anecdotes from anyone that may remember any of the people above would be welcome. I know that they moved to Vancover some time during 1940-45. Patricia died in Reno Cal Aug 86 (married a Vic Vaughn), Maud Olive is alive and well in Hawaii currently and Olive Elizabeth Died in New Zealand in 1974.

I have found a record of Olive, Patricia and Maud coming to canada on the Doric 1931 berthing Quebec 5 Sep 1931.

Thanks in advance...

Lawrence Finn
Great Grandson of Olive Elizabeth Millard
