John Brown
In the annals of the Brimfield (Mass.) church, John Brown and his wife, Lovina, were admitted to the church April, 1785. They were dismissed to Holland in 1793. Among the early settlers of Holland, John Brown was one of the conspicuous figures in town affairs about the time of the division of Brimfield and the creation of the new district, Holland, out of the southern territory. In 1790 he was one of the selectmen.

The first American census, taken in 1790, under head of Holland, Mass., gives: “John Brown, male, 1 head of family, 1 under 16 yrs. old; females, 2.”
