Surnames: Millican/Milligan, Dismany/Dismang, Shelton
I am so puzzled as many are about the Julius Millican in Anderson Co. Tenn. I would greatly like to know the information on the Jackson Family Bible.
I have been researching my ancestor Lucinda Millican m. Jesse Shelton abt. 1830 Anderson Co. Tenn.
Lucinda according to census was born abt. 1810 Tenn and both her parents according to 1880 Bell Co. Ky census in Tenn also
My research shows a very interesting history according to basic census information.
In 1830 we find living next to each other

Julius Millikan and younger Julius are found page 183
John Millakin page 177

We know that a Julius Millican married Catherine Hart in Green Co. Ky 1798.
it seems that its the younger Julius that is found in Blount Co. Tenn 1840 where we will also find Katherine Milligan in 1850. My opinion is that the 1830 older Julius is the Green Co. Ky 1798 Julius Millican.
That leaves Mary--James & Harvy--John.
Now here is where it gets interesting in 1840 Bledsoe Co. Tenn we find
1840 Bledsoe County Tennessee Census (adjoing families)

Dismany, Dudley

These are just my deductions based on census ;Mary Millican I believe is in her daughter Malinda Millican Dismany's household with her son Harvey next door and the 1830 James Millican living close by
page 153 B
James Milican

In 1850 Rhea Co. Tenn we still find the families of Harvey Millican 5th District family 375-375 and Dudley Dismang/Dismany family 373-373 together.
Mary Millican is back in Anderson Co. Tenn with son Robert Millican.
My research stops when the Jackson Family Bible comes into the information. From Anderson Co. records there seems to be only one Julius (the one always in trouble) and we know that by 1821 there is a Polly Millican I assume widowed since the county allows her support for her daughter Melinda till she recovers from her infirmities (Malinda could be Malinda Millican married to Dudley Dismany.
I would love to know if possible what the Bible actually reads ;does it say Julius as fact.It would help me inmensely to know.
thank you
