Hi: I'm not sure if you're still interested, but I MAY be related to the above gentleman. My paternal grandfather was John Marion Millican; my father was his last (7th) child and was born in Grapevine, TX, in 1939. I always thought the middle name, "Marion" peculiar for a male; perhaps John Marion was related to Francis Marion? I no little-to-nothing about this part of my family -- my grandfather passed away when my dad was ~3 years of age.

I have resided in Grapevine for the past year, and actually live quite near the cemetary where the Millican family is buried.

My name is Catherine ("Cat") -- feel free to contact me at: seedoubleyou@aol.com.

You might want to try and contact The San Saba Pecan Company and ask for Winston {Millican}. He may know and if he don't, he will probably give you the nanme of someone who can give you the info that you are wanting. You may also want to search for the Chappel Cemetery as he maybe buried there. You might also check out the San Saba Cemetery.
Sharon Langham Henson

Re: William Millican / Mary Branham Birth Marriage Info (6 Oct 1776)

William Millican died abt 1806 and it is presumed that he died in Spartanburg, SC. I have copies of his probate records that were filed in Spartanburg District, SC. His wife , Mary, was the administrator of his estate at first but she could not prove bond and Robert Millican, William's brother ??, became the administrator. This happened when Mary Millican married Pleasant Brandon in 1807 in Spartanburg, SC. Robert was made guardian of the children; Jane H. (Haley?)also called"Jennie", Moses Scott, William Washington and Nancy Greene Millican. Pleasant Brandon "sold" to Robert some of the household goods and livestock of his wife's estate with the understanding that when the debt was paid the above mentioned items would be returned. Robert left Spartanburg in 1817 and the admistration of the estate was passed on to someone else. It is believed that Mary's last name was Scott but has not been documented yet. No proof that this is the same William Millican that was enlisted in the Fifth Regiment, 30 march 1776, South Carolina: N.A. 853, p. 683, "Roster of South Carolina Patriots in the American Revolution", by Bobby Gilmer Moss, 1983, Limestone College, Baltimore Genealogical Publishing Co, inc.

In fact it probably was not as Mary was born abt 1780.

Many questions on the Millican family of South Carolina.

I have Lucinda Wilson Crisp as:
b: 29 July 1811, Tennessee
d: 11 March 1876, Lafayette, Yamhill, Oregon.
m: Elijah Ellison Millican on 1 March 1827.

I do have a note that says that Acil and Susannah Crisp were her parents, but I need to verify that information.

If you are a descendant of the Millican/Meyers union, then I suspect you and I don't live too far from each other here in Oregon.

I would reccomend check out the Tillamook Pioneer Museum. You need an appointment and they are open Tues-Sat but I believe I just read about Allen Meyers while browsing the Trask/Walling/Millican line there this last week.

Re: Millican surname

Andrew Jackson Millican's ( 1755-1803 Madisoon County Georgia) father is William Millican. William Millican, I don't have a birthdate for, but I do have enough second hand information to know from those working on it longer than me and related to me, he was Andrew's father.

William Millican died 6 October 1776 at Cowpens, South Carolina. It is believed (Speculated) that he died in battle against the British during the revolution.

This is copied from the "Roster of South Carolina Patriots in the American Revolution" by Bobby Gilmer Moss, 1983, Published by Limestone College, Baltimore Genealogical Publishing Co. Inc., N.A. 853, p. 683: "Enlisted in the Fifth Regiment, 30 march 1776, South Carolina."

I obtained the book at the Tillamook Pioneer Museum, located in Tillamook Oregon. Andrew's son, Elijah Eillison Millican (1805, Danielson, Madison, Georgia - 30 Aug 1877, Lafayette, Yamhill, Oregon) and his son, John M., (1846, Georgia - 10 May 1919, Troutdale, Multnomah, Oregon) both emmigrated to Oregon, and died in Lafayette, Oregon, and are buried in a Masonic Cemetery on Mineral Springs Road. I have not yet located nor photographed John M. Millican's grave here in the Portland Area.

I was unable to locate the grave of Elijah Millican, however, his wife's headstone, Lucinda Wilson Crisp (29 July 1811, Tennessee - 11 march 1876, Lafayette, Yamhill Oregon) is attached as a photograph here with this response.
