Ok, here's what I've found today (from 1880 Census and cemetery listings):
John Green Berry Milligan (1826-1908) married Carrie Rebecca Athey (1832-1886 from Montgomery Co.,AL) and had these children:
M. I. , Loraine/Rainey, Frances M., William F., Rhoda Rebecca, Sarah "Sally" A., George Forrest, James Henry, Sylvester, Margaret L., and Rufus Lee (the Dr).
I've found a "Green B. Milligan," born 1836 (maybe it's the same as listed above?) with at least one sibling, a sister named Louisa (born 1820, married William Ezell). It looks like "Green B Milligan" and Louisa's mother's name was Savanna (born 1792 in GA) but I cannot find the father's name of what Savanna's maiden name might be. Both Green B and Savanna lived with Mr Ezell and Louisa Ezell. That's the way they were listed on the 1880 census, taken in Pike Co., Georgia. I don't see why this "Green B" would be living with his sister and brother in law in 1880 if his wife Carrie Athey didn't die until 1886, so maybe these two aren't the same.
There's also a "Green J" (born 1874 in FL to Stephen and Martha Milligan) listed in the census but his actual name is "Greenberry Johnson Milligan" (who has, among others, a brother named Rufus ALLEN- not to be confused with Rufus Lee above. Rufus Allen ran the sawmill in what is now Milligan, Florida). That Greenberry Johnson Milligan is my gggrandfather. To confuse you even more, he had a son named "Green Berry Milligan" who was born in 1902 and died in 1924.
So far we have John, John Green, Green J, Green B, Greenberry, Green Berry, and Johnson. And two Rufuses. My head is about to explode.
If anyone has any information linked to any of the berry-bunch, please email me at LewAndAdri@aol.com
. Thanks for any help you might provide!
