Hi! My name is Gwen Schauweker and I am researching my dad's family tree. The only information I have is that my Great Great Grandfather's name was Thomas R. I don't know if he ended up in the United States first, or came directly to Hawaii.

If anyone has any information, please let me know.

Thanks

Gwen

I know of no family connections to my Grandfather. He might have had a sister (Mary?), it is uncertain. He did however have a good classic education. He may have run away to sea and served on the Olivebank when it was a sailing ship. He may have been in the Royal Navy during the time of the Russian Revolution. He married a Louisa Taylor in West Ham in 1919. If this sounds like a connection to your family please let me know.

Ellen Doris MILLS - Hammersmith, London area

Hi everyone,

A colleague of mine has found out that his natural mother died giving birth to him. His father (now deceased) didn't tell him much about his mother and he didn't really know his relatives on his mother's side, so naturally he would like to know more about her.

Through the internet, we have established that his mother was born Ellen Doris MILLS in 1919 in the Hammersmith area of London. She married Henry DAVIS in 1944 and died on 29th November 1949 in Hammersmith Hospital, giving birth to their son Barry Henry DAVIS. Barry has not been able to find out where his mother was buried, and we have contacted the local churchyards / cemeteries in the Hammersmith area, but to no avail. Her death was registered in the Hammersmith district in the December quarter of 1949. Does anyone have any ideas about how we could find her burial record, as this is very important to him?

Also, does anyone know of this family, who were living in Hammersmith Grove at the time of Ellen's death? I'm sure there must be aunties / uncles, or at the very least cousins, who might wish to make contact with Barry.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Best regards, Marie

Walter Mills in TN & MO

I am looking for anyone with information on Walter Mills who moved from Carroll County Tennessee to Oregon County Missouri with his wife Nancy and the following children: Henderson, Mary E, John H, George P, Eli, Martha, Robert, Amanda and Sarah. I've read on this website that Walter married a Nancy Prewett in Carroll County Tennessee in 1849, but I don't have that documentation. In the 1850 & 1860 census Walter lists himself as being born in North Carolina.

I am descended from Walter's son Henderson and I have gathered census and marriage information on most of Walter's children & grandchildren. Several of them migrated to Clarksville, Texas and then on to Caddo, Oklahoma. However, I have been unable to determine Walter's origins.

I did find a Mills family who lived in the adjacent county of Madison during the 1850 census. The following people were on the same page: George W Mills with wife Mary and children, Vina (18), Washington (17), Minerva (12), Jane(9), Amanda(4) & Marion(3). In a separate household is James Mills with wife Christiana and children Thomas (26) and Jane (21). All of these people were born in North Carolina except for the children starting with Minerva, so this family did not come to Tennessee until at least 1834. I'm wondering if they are related to my Walter.

If any of this sounds familiar to anyone, please feel free to contact me.

Thank You.

They were married 12-30-1874 in Gadsden Co, FL. George B Mills (born 1854)was a son of William Cleaton Mills. George is listed living with his parents in 1860 and 1870. In 1880 He is listed in Gadsden Co, FL living with wife and children. By 1900 he has migrated to Wilson Co, TX as had so many from Gadsden Co. He is listed with his wife Mattie and children which included his daughter Claudie Mills. This Claudie Mills marries Jerd W Woodlee (another Gadsden Co, FL native) before 1910. By 1910 George B Mills is living in the Jerd Woodlee household in Wilson Co, TX. There were also many Johnson families who migrated from Gadsden Co, FL to Wilson Co, TX. I am searching for the parents of Mattie E Johnson.

Extended Family Group Chart

I have inherited an Extended Family Group Chart that was compiled in the 1920's and 1930's by two of my grandmother Griffith's cousins.

The extended chart is written on white shelfpaper and is @ 4ft in length. It covers from my grandmothers parents, ABRAHAM LINCOLN (1864-1915) & ORA JANE BEALS (1869-1895) GRIFFITH, back multiple generations to about the 5th Century AD.

I have been able to put the chart on CD and am willing to share the information, as it appears, to anyone who may be related to the families on the chart. The primary family surnames are:

GRIFFITH, BEALS, MILLS, CONNELLY, BEESON, HAMMER, KNODE/KNOWD, JANEWAY, MENDENHALL, MILLIKIN, MAULSBY, GRIEST, MAINWARING, BOWATER, & CHOLMONDLEY. As well as connecting families.

I am willing to share the information to nayone who may find these names in their lineage, or for anyone who has a keen interest in a Group Chart that extends, by count, to @79AD (not proved as of this writing).

Evelynne
ritter5_69@earthlink.net

Sussex County New Jersey - Mills Family

Am curious if any one has an ongoing database, web site, etc, for the MILLS family of Sussex County, New Jersey.

Observed that on the geocities web site, of the MILLS ANCESTRY, mainly is posted of the family of the George of Jamaica, LI NY.

Not sure when all of that research was done, or if it ever has been updated?

But am most interested as to the 'why' that none of those MILLS families of Sussex County, New Jersey, which seem to be related to the same MILLS family of the "George".

There is a Robert MILLS, wife Jane, dau Jane who married Thomas J BEATTY. Robert died 1827 Newton, Sussex, NJ. some of his family is posted, but does not seem to be really detailed.

There is of course, the John MILLS - Rebecca SMITH family that I have posted often and sundry all over the place.

None of the related surnames of the John and Rebecca family are even listed on the MILLS ANCESTRY listing.

It would appear over time, researchers have found related MILLS of the George, family that removed up to Nova Scotia and other provences of Canada.

Again, the SUSSEX County MILLS families were not reflected, on any one of those datbases.

Just asking. All I can do these days.

Any light that might be shed, would be so welcome.

Thank you all in advance.

pat
cw

I am seeking information, documentation, etc. on Robert E. I have been unable to find a Texas or Social Security Record for Robert (R.E.) She is the daughter of Enoch George W. Chandler & Nancy Cooper.
He would love it if anyone has additional information, old family photos, stories, etc. that they will share.
I do not belong to mailing lists, please email me directly
jimair@pelicancoast
or reply to this message.
Thank you,
Barbara Chandler

In the 1840 Newton, MO (Marion) census we have as neighbors in Newton, the Vance family who are often near the Ledbetters, Jacob Ikenberry with a daughter between 15-20, Andrew Carr/Kerr with a daughter between 15-20, Robert Carr/Kerr, Willis Mills with a boy between 5-10 (possibly Henry) and a boy between 10-15 (possibly Henry) and a girl between 15-20 (could this be Elizabeth Mills who married Robert R. Laxson or his wife, Mary? Next to him is William Laxson, whose son Robert marries an Elizabeth Mills. Next to Laxson is Gabriel J. Endicott. Willis has 2 sons named Robert and Gabriel. Six names away we have Thomas J. Mills and his wife Fanny Smith & kids. Then in North, Netwon, MO we have John Pennington, Thomas Mills aged 20-30 and a boy aged 15-20 and a girl 15-20.
In 1850, We have John Mills and his wife Jane Pennington in Milam, TX with William Mills and his wife Jane. A William Mills has married a Jane Kerr. Thomas Mills and his wife Sarah Ledbetter are in Henderson, TX. In Jasper, MO we have Elizabeth Laxson (widow of William), Willis Mills with his wife Mary, 3 sons and Nancy Endicott, Henry Mills with Sarah Stockton who was born in 1790, and Gabriel J. Endicott. Then Henry and Nancy Endicott marry. Mary dies and Willis married Winefred Ledbetter Endicott. In the late 50s, Willis, Henry and Elizabeth Laxson move to Bell, TX, where John, William, and Jefferson are already living. They are all neighbors there. Robert R. Laxson and Elizabeth Mills stay behind in Jasper. Henry and Jefferson sell property together. Later, the two of them sue John Mills' estate. William Mills gives many of his children the same names that Thomas J. Mills has given his children. All the Mills boys have a daughter named Sarah. Winefred Mills, wife of Willis dies in 1859. Henry and Sarah move elsewhere. The Laxson's move elsewhere. William Mills dies. Jeff, Willis and John live in close proximity to each other. In 1860, Thomas Mills moves to Milam, TX. He is buried with Jane and John Mills in Donahoe Cemetery in Bell. There are easy assumptions to be made but they don't pan out.

Jedidiah Mills in Indiana/New York

We are searching for information on Jedidiah C. Mills born Aug. 18, 1792 in New York State (possibly Cape Vincent area?)
He is listed in the 1850 New York census for Cape Vincent, Jefferson County, with wife Jane (Forsyth)who was born Feb 1, 1794 in Ireland. Children (all born in NY) listed in 1850 census include Mary 24, Nancy A. 21, William 19, and Samuel 12, Condelia (Cordelia?) 18, and also a Daniel? Guthrie? is listed as living in the home.

Jedidiah and Jane Mills family is believed to have moved to North East Indiana the same year, in 1850 to near Harlan, Allen Co., Indiana.

Son Samuel Mills married Martha Brown of Indiana (any information on the Brown family? Her parents were William Brown and Elizabeth (Miller).)

We had previous information that Jedidiah was son of Jedidiah Mills b.1757, son of Jedidiah b.1727, son of Jedidiah b.1697, son of Peter and Johanna (Porter) Mills.

We have also found conflicting information from the Ancestral File, ver 4.15 from 1993 The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, which has Jedidiah C. Mills' father as Samuel Frederick Mills b.1759, m 1785 in Stratford, Conn., died 1857 in Cape Vincent, NY, who was decended from 4 generations of Samuel Mills of Connecticut, and Jamaica, NY.

Also looking for American Indian in this Mills line according to Family Folklore.

ANY HELP IN THESE AREAS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!! THANKS FOR TAKING THE TIME TO READ OUR QUERY!

Hi, my grandfathers' death has prompted me to wonder about his early life. He was born in Northwich, Cheshire, England in 1921 to Samuel and Geraldine (Oakes) Mills, and had a brother, Ernest. Does anyone have anything on them, I have searched various sources and come up with nothing. I believe they emigrated to Canada prior to WWII, but I do not know when. Thanks for any info!
