Contract of Marriage by and between James R. Mims of the one part and Emily E. Campbell of the other part entered into and signed this day 21st of May AD One Thousand Eight hundred and fifty Witnesseth that whereas the said James and the said Emily have agreed and are about to intermarry and whereas the said Eimly is in her own right proprietor of certain slaves and monies. Now therefore in consideration of the premesis it is hereby convenanted and agreed that all of the said slaves and the said monies (an inventory whereof will be hereto attached) so belonging as aforesaid to the said Emily shall, notwithstanding, the said proposed intermarriage be and remain to all intents and purposes the separate and distinct property of the said Emily in the full power to her to sell, give, bequeath or otherwise dispose of the same and receive and dispose of the rents issued and prof its thereof in like manner as if she were still sole and unmarried without any control hindrance or molestaion from the said James or from any person claiming by through or under him.
