Hello Jeff,
I am able to accurately trace my ancestry g-g-grandfather (Daniel Minard) back into eastern Ohio, around 1800. The majority of the family stays around there, but my direct lineage goes to northern Indiana, then to Missouri after WWII. My g-g-grandfather reports he was born in Connecticut but I have no other details. I will keep you in mind if anything comes up relating to Charles.
Regards, Kevin Minard
Lake Saint Louis, Missouri

Hi There,

I am responding to you posting on ancestry.ca looking for a Charles Minard, related to Levi Minard. Your posting is more than a few years old, so this may be too late. However, I have a gr gr grandfather Charles Minard who was born and lived in the Owen Sound area of Ontario, Canada (Grey / Bruce Counties area).

I have him born in 1856, which may be too young for your search. Let me know if you have any further information relating to Charles Minard or have any questions.

kind regards, Jeff Minard
Sidney Maynard/Menard/Minard

I am seeking ancestors of Sidney Maynard, my ggg grandfather. It is likely his last name originally was Minard or Menard. He was born between 1799-1803 in Connecticut (according to census). Sidney lived in Bozrah, Columbia and Canterbury Connecticut. However the 1880 Norwich census of his son William Maynard indicates that his father Sidney was born at sea. Sidney and his wife Hannah are buried at the Bozrah Johnson Cemetery in Bozrah, Connecticut.

Sidney's wife's name was Hannah (last name unknown) from Massachusetts and had three children - Charles H., William S. and Harriet A. Maynard.

Any assistance is appreciated.

Minards in Wales / England

I am new to this and as some would say in UK - "a long shot" - but from the messages it seems that the "Minard" search is mainly in Canada / USA. Can we make a new international connection?

I am searching a Jane Minard, born about 1842 (between 1841 and 1843) and married to John Harries, a sailor (so he often got around a bit!!). In 1869 she lived in Pembroke, Wales.

She is possibly?? the daughter of James and Ann Minard. They lived in Buckinghamshire, England and had children Elizabeth, Thomas, James, others ?? (from our 1841 Census). But where were they from or are they connected to a family who emigrated to Canada / US.

It appears that the name "Minard"is not common in UK. Also there is some possibility that our transcribed census documents may have miss-transcriped the original such that the Minardi family are recorded as "Menesds".

Does this connect with anyone?

I would be very interested in seeing the picture of George Minard and family. I have a George Minard on my family tree that was born in Ohio in 1841. His father is Harmon or Herman Minard who came from Conn., and his mother was Mary Vosburgh (born 1809) in Conn. Is this the same family? I don't know George's wife's name, so I don't know if this is the same George Minard or not. Does anyone have further info on this family?

In going through your site I found the name Wiltsie. This is my second connection to this name and in the same area. David had a sister named Eveline. She married Elting Dickinson and had a daughter Sarah. Sarah married George Wiltsie and had a son Ernest. They also lived around Macon Missouri in the late 1800's. Wonder what the relation is to your Oliver Wiltsie?

I'm at a brick wall there. Hope this helps.

joecan:

This is off topic for your post but I have been trying to find you, regarding posts from 2004:
Sophia Lyon Holloway

"In an antique store in Powell, Ohio I found an old CDV by a Norristown, PA photographer. The writing on the back is very hard to read. I think it says:"
Mrs Sophia Lyon Hollaway
Taken in ?? 1893
Born Colrain, MA March 18, 1827
Daniel 1 ??
Sophia M 3
Still living at Georgetown, Ills. 1901
"I think this is the wife of George Hollaway who lived in Georgetown IL. But I don't know why it was taken in PA. There was also a photo of Frederick Dennison Lyon taken in PA. Perhaps they are brother and sister?"

I need to have contact with you, you had shared this photo with me in 2004.
Would you please email me at:

lsgreen@avenuebroadband.com

or at

laniceg@gmail.com
