Re: Jedediah [Peck/PECK] MINER--father of Eunice Amanda MINER (wife of Isaac Washington MUZZY)

Do you have any information on Jedediahs siblings. It has been suggested tha my 2nd great grandmother Lydia Hulda may have been born a Miner. She married Robert Ray ca 1840 probably in Trumbull Co, OH as they had least 4 chilren born in Trumbull, Ohio. They moved to Grant County, WI before the 1850 census. They are also found there in 1860. No record is found of she or 7 of their known 8 children after 1860. Robert marries a Catherine Sleppy Heasley between 1862 and 1864 so presumably Lydia died.

Interestingly one of Robert's sons (William) by Catherine (second wife) lived in the Rochester,MN area.

Does any of this sound familliar?

I have a Great Great Great Grandfather that has a dead end. His name was MC Minor and he lived in Onondago County, NY. His daughter Catherine Minor married my Great Great Grandfather, Hiram Warner, Sr., in March, 1819 also in Onondaga County, New York. Is there a chance that MC Minor comes down the line from Thomas Minor? I have the Warner lineage back to 1500,but am soooo interested in who the women were and their families. Any information you might have would be so much appreciated. Thank you so very much. Patty Warner

Hi Cousins...can anyone help me understand how a family as large as this one can loose a daughter? As far back as I can remember, my mother told me her grand mother Eilzabeth b. 1855, daughter of Woodson and Sarah had been abandoned at age 5 years. Who-What-Where-When and Why?? maybe I should add, How? to this.
Well, seems Woodson has died as Sarah and her sister Nancy are living next door to each other in the 1860 Reynolds Co. census..Elizabeth is there at age 5 years with her siblings. In 1870 Elizabeth is living in Kansas City with a Mrs. Butler as a Nanny to Margaret Butler's 2 children...Elizabeth is now age 14. How did she get to Kansas City, Mo.?
In 1870 she marries my Gr. Grandfather Dan Cahill and has her 2 children, John Samuel and Nettie Elizabeth Duteman? Again another mystery...who was the childrens father?

Does anyone know the whole story on how she was abandoned and left to fend for her self at such a young age? I hate to think of what she might have done to survive..

Sharon
They had seven children, one of which died at a young age. Those who survived, all girls were in birth order: Sarah MINER FUNK (my g-grandmother), Joanna MINER BUCKLEW, Ada MINER HIXENBAUGH, Ynona MINER SHULTZ, Zella MINER SHULTZ and Daisy MINER LEGGETT. All but Joanna are buried at Pine Grove cemetery at Salt Lick. Joanna and her husband are buried at Wesley Chapel cemetery, nearby.

If you will send me your emial address, I can scan them and send you a copy. I hae been trying to find someone in the family for years. I am related by marriage to Bill's brother Pruitt's son, Hal. I have some basic info on the Miner's going back to Elias Miner in 1799. (5 or 6 genreations back. I would love to share them.

Also was Mary Louise's last name Miner? I don't want to ask Bill cause he is remarried to Jane. He is not in very good health, either. The Miner with the MOST knowledge is a cousin of Bill's, Juanita Miner Crowe. She is in a nursing home - asisted living- in Gardendale. I am planning to go see her and take these photos so she can tell me who they are. Will be glad to share that info when I get it.

(I remember a Becky in our family....wonder if it is you. I would have met you at Grandmother Lacie Miner's birthday. THere were two young girls that day, I have a photo of 2 girls at the piano - would have been about 1978-79. Any chance that it's you?)

E-mail me at
rminer@bham.rr.com

Thanks Robin K. Miner

Not sure IF you're still online or not, but will take a chance. Elzina/Alzina (Miner) Epley is also my ancestor. Her daughter, Mary Emma/Emeline (Epley) married Franz Heidenfelder as her first husband. He was my great-grandfather.
Please contact me IF you're still on here. I have other data, but likewise have no death date, nor place for Elzina, just know she was living with her daughter, Barbara/Elihu Tipton in later life.

My great great grandmother was Amity P. Miner, a descendant of Lt. Thomas Miner, one of the founders of Stonington,CT. She married a Simon Wilkinson in Dunham, Missisquoi Quebec sometime in the late 1850's or early 1860's. Anyone with more information on this couple please contact me. She is listed on the Miner websites as having married an "unknown Wilkins" but he is not a Wilkins but a Wilkinson, methodist, born in St. Armand, quebec in 1835.

French Canadian Miners

I was recently able to find a distant cousin who told me that his family was told that the name sounded like "manure" and the family was being teased and nicknamed horse s**t. They americanized it as "Miner". I've found a spelling in the Canadian records of Mayneur, which I think would sound like manure in English. Has anyone else heard about this?
Mary

I am not sure what constitutes "French Canada" but that is where I've been stuck. Franklin Miner was born about 1818 in "French Canada" He is listed in the 1850 census in NewYork under the name Minor, which may have been a misspelling or another change. When he is in Placer County California in 1860 and 1870, he is Miner. His wife Julia/Juliette was born in New York. Somewhere there is family history of someone being married to a full blooded Native American but I'm not sure if that is Julia or someone earlier than that.
I'm basically stuck at Frank's birth in Canada - looking at lots of different spellings trying to find him
Don't know if I can be of help but we may be digging for the same info.
Mary Miner

Hello,

I have a Peter Miner in my line. According to the US 1880 census of Fulton, NY (Oswego County) he was married to a Virginia Darois, I had assumed that the birthdates or places of birth to be wrong but I have 3 children being born in Cornwall, Ontario CA and 5 children being born in NY state. The odd thing is, the dates overlap, appearing to jump back and forth over the boarder before the birth of each child. My Peter DOB is approximately 1837. The Canadian children are Ida, William and Alice. The American children are Henry P (my great grandfather), George, Peter, Minnie and Josephine. Feel free to e-mail me and we can compare notes.

Miner's Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois looking for James Jasper Miner

This is the linnage that I have starting with my father. Lester C. Miner Jr. dob 07/08/1930 married Mary Wellner dob 06/02/1931, Lester C. Miner Sr. dob 05/27/1905 married Emma B. Johnson dob 02/13/1909, James William Miner dob 02/01/1869 Married Mabel Adams dob 01/03/1874 After this I have no dates of birth since original family bible is in hands of a relative that has moved from area and would not leave anyone see it before she moved. The last I have is James Jasper Miner that Married Anna Mason My grandmother had James W. Miner's birth place as Jefferson In. but 1920 Il census lists his birth place as Kentucky so James Jasper Would probably be in Kentucky census of 1870 but have been unable to find him or Anna in Kentucky or Indiana. From family storeis from my grandfather and great grandfather William (Bill) Miner the outlaw was James Jasper Miner's brother or uncle my grandfather always called him William and not bill when he talked about him. If you have any info please leave me know.
