i had to call my mom and ask some questions. My father [Isabelle's son] died in 1996.
MY mom said that Isabelle's mother was Martha Swink. Her father was Henry Coughenour. They were not married. Martha later married Mr. May(Mom didn'tknow his first name) and they produced Elizabeth, who later married Edwin Butler, and Simon May who lived in Apollo in later life. Mr. May raised Isabelle as his daughter. My mother read most of this to me from Isabelle's obituary, which she still has from the Connellsville Daily Courier. Isabelle was born May 12, 1892 and died Dec 12, 1956. This was when I was 2 years old so I don't remember her. Perhaps Mark Miner of the Miner.com site has more info. My mother said she didn't know of anyone else I could ask, most of my father's family has died.

For anyone seeking their Minerd roots, I invite you to visit our new Minerd family website, www.minerd.com. It highlights the national reunion and research of the German family of Minerd-Miner-Minor, of Pennsylvania, and contains the names of some 1,200 descendants of the first five generations who were born before the year 1900. Right now we have biographies posted for about 420 of the early cousins.

Maynard / Minerd / Minard (?) Ralph and Paul OH or PA

Actually searching for descendants of James E. Sandoe who married a Mae Minard who was apparently a widow with at least three children. On the 1920 Census Ralph, Paul both age 17, and Malri (?) age 12, Minerd are living at home and are listed as step-children of James Sandoe.

Mae could be Mary or May, do not know her maiden name and have not been able to find the Minerd family on the 1910 or 1900 census for either PA or OH, but it seems there are many variations on the spelling or similar sounding surnames.

Has anyone heard of this family?
My brothers Birthname was Donald Eugene Minerd but I am sure it has changed with the adoption. He was given up around one or two yrs. of age somewhere around 1975? I know his birth father was Donald Eugene Minerd of Masontown and his birth mother was Mary Louise Sereneri and he was born in Uniontown Pa and left at Children and Youth Services. If anyone has any info. about him I would love for you to get a hold of me. There are a few in our family (Serenari Family) that never wanted for him to be taken away and will never have any closer until they know how he is and whatever happened to him. Thanks....Kimberly Pickard
I'm looking for the names of Isabelle Coughenour's parents. She married Lawrence E. Minerd (date?). Supposedly, Isabelle's family was from the Somerset, Pa. area and later moved to Fayette Co., Pa. Isabelle had a sister named Elizabeth who married a BUTLER. I think Isabelle's mother's maiden name was MAY. Isabelle died in 1956 at age 61 or 69. I checked the MINERD, MAY and GOCHENOUR websites and found nothing. Any info would be appreciated.

We are in shock that there are so many Minerd's. My husbands family thought they were the only ones. Do you all say your name MINARD/MENARD when spelling it Minerd? I am wondering how we can find out if we are all conected. Our family has almost no family records. They are clueless as to the orgin of the family. My husbands father doesn't even know if we have relatives alive or not. He also doesn't care, but we do. If we are related we would love to come to your reunion. A man with the last name of Miner contacted us at PamiAni@aol.com a few years ago and said we may be related but we were not sure if we should give it much effort. Are any of you that guy? Please let us know. We are very excited to find you all and the Minerd.com web site.

Thanks all Ü,
Tim and Pamala

Wendy:

Although I am Not a Minard, you might be interested in knowing that there were Minard families in the New London Connecticut area in the early 1700s. Also, another separate Minard family who settled in Pennsylvania in the mid 1700s. Some of these people changed thier name to Miner. Causing a great deal of confusion in trying to trace real Miner ancestors.

Bill

finding family...Minerds

HI, My name is Wendy and my maiden name is Minerd....It's my hope to find family members related to myself and my father, Craig Hershal Minerd, becuase I am starting geneology, and also because my father has relatives that he doesn't know...and has no idea about his father...Thomas Hershal Minerd, who died after divorcing my father's mother. It's our understanding that before Thomas died he had remarried and had 4 or five other children. We don't even know if they are aware that my dad exists. It would be so wonderful to find family...because my father is alone, with no real family and a vague legacy to leave my young brother..who is 13. Any help I could get would be great and feel free to email me anytime. I've never even talked with another Minerd before, except my dad.lol. I live in michigan, and he lives in California.
Thanks for taking the time to read all this, and I hope to be hearing from someone soon...

My great-grandfather was Charles A. Minerd, married to Sarah Jane Kinsel. He was born April 1858 supposedly in Dunbar, Fayette, PA, although I haven't been able to prove this. My grandmother's name was Eva Kate and she had several brothers and sisters. The family is said to have moved to West Virginia in the early 1900's.
