I am looking for any information on my gg grandmother. I know her husband Will Chambers shot and killed her in Rosedale, OK in 1914. I don't know where she was buried if she was or anything about her background. I do know that her mother was C.J. Parks and that Ellen was from Texas.
Who was Ellen's dad? What happened to her parents?

It has been so hard for me to find out anything about her mother Rebecca Bruce Mingus. Rebecca married my grandfather Isaac in 1920, had Mom in 1921, Then Rebecca died in 1923. Someone else raised my Mom from age of 3 yrs. My Mom died in an automobile accident when I was 14. It would mean so much to me to know who her parents were and grandparents too if prssible. Mom had a half sister Named Ailene. Rebecca was Ailene's Mom but had a different Dad. That is all I know. If anyone can help me I would appreciate it so very much!!

Hi everyone! I am researching the Mingus line. I was wondering if anyone has information on Rebecca Mingus, child of George Mingus and Sarah Baker of Haywood area in North Carolina? Rebecca was born approx. 1815 in N.C. Are her siblings: Clarissa, Henry, Amy, Mary and Sarah? I am trying to figure out my father's line which all came from GA, TN, and NC. Unfortunely I am far from those areas to research the information. Any help is much appreciated. Thank you.
Barbara

I have corresponded with JAL Miller before. I have found some of the children of Sallie A Miller Mingis ( married Rowan McGruder Mingis d. 1888) Then married Henry M Hoffman 1889. Had three children by Rowan ( Eston, Thera C. and Mary M.) Eston went to Missouri had a family and died there. Thera went to Portsmouth, VA had family and died there. I think Mary M ended up in New York, single. I have lost Sallile after her second husband died in 1905. She sold her property for $2000 and that's where I lose her. Her children by Hoffman were Annie M, Gladys and either Phelis or Hollis
I have had no luck with them.
Dorothy Miller dottapper@cox.net

I have been to the mill, the cemetery across the highway( where the other Abram Mingus is buried-they were cousins) and the Baptist church. I would love to see the membership list of the church.Any help appreciated.I would also love to find the father of Jeremiah Stillwell.
Marge(gggranddaughter of William Mingus)

Dear John,
I come from the line of George Mingus, brother of a Conrad Mingus. They passed through PA. but later moved on down into the Ashville area of NC.
The family was still speaking and reading German in 1900. George was born 1755--the family claimed the Palatinate area.My branch of the family-George's son Abraham B. Mingus( spelled numerous ways on census) moved to Pierce City MO and on to Texas where the town of Mingus was named after them.
I would love to find out more about the DNA study.

William Mingus is my g ggrandfather. Abraham is his father and George is his grandfather. The family still lives in TX and I know the area well. There was a brother of George who was a Conrad and a grandson Cornelius Conrad. There was also a nephew who was a Conrad. Almost every generation used the name. Mingus Mill in the Smokies was owned by a cousin of this branch( John Mingus line)
George had--Abraham, Henry and George Jr./. Conrad had John, Conrad Jr. and Jacob plus several girls. They first appear in the Lincoln Co census and then in Haywood. William described their living at Mingus Bend in the Blue Ridge Mts. 10 miles from Ashville.
My Abraham had the middle name of Burton--he had several cousins also named Abraham.
I'm afraid all the cousins I still know are girls. My brother did the DNA for the Crews group. Myg grandmother was Pauline Mingus Crews
e-mail rtelerski3318@wowway.com
Dear Sir:
My name is Christian Jones. I am a decendant of the Mingus family from Western NC. The 1 Mingus you where inquiring about in the Rev. War was John Jacob Mingus. March 10, 1814, he was a private and was Discharged May 17, 1815 in Camp Greenville, NC. Robert Love, Capt. John was my great, great, great, great, great grandfather. I have a good bit of info on the Mingus family. I can also help you a little with the Stillwill family. Also the Grits mill you where speaking of is just about 2 mile outside of the Cherokee reservation and is at the entrance to thr Great Smoky Mountain National Park. The name of the Mill is the Mingus Mill. A number of Stillwell family members and also Mingus family members also attended the Ocona Lufty Baptist Church just up the road from the grits mill on the hill. I have a complete roll of all the members of the church from the foundation of the church until the last year of the church. thank you, christian jones

Great to hear from you again. I've retired from US Airways/Piedmont Airlines, to 4978 N. Hampton Dr., Southport, N.C. 28461-7420. We thought U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Maj. Magruder Mingus perished in WWII on the Bataan Death March. However I think he survived it into liberation a few weeks, but a very sick man who wed his Army nurse just before death? But if so, the family never heard from her, that I know of? Possibly she perished before the war ended, but surely she would write a letter to the family. Is he buried Hawaii? How are you kin? James Alfred Locke Miller Jr. Was Rowan McGruder Mingus kin to Rowan Co, N.C., Confederate 3rd Lt. Jesse Rowan Pinkston, believed brother of my Pvt. Wm. Franklin Pinkston, CSA? Both served under Rev. John Abner Locke Miller's father, Capt. Alfred Alexander Miller, CSA. Jim
