Ernest Frederick Mink, Detroit
Seeking information about Ernest Frederick Mink (1856-1908). He was a stonecutter in Detroit. I think his father may have been Constantine Mink (b. 1819 or so, Wurttemburg Germany - d. 1892 Detroit Michigan): the earliest mention of Ernest I have found is the 1870 census, when he is 16, and living in Constantine's house. Constantine was a cabinetmaker in Detroit already in 1852, but I think he may have gone back to Germany for a while, and then returned, because he disappears from Detroit records as far as I can tell until 1864. There's some question about where Ernest was born: the 1880 census says he was born in Canada, the 1900 census says Michigan. If I could find him or Constantine in the 1860 census it would be great! but so far, no luck. Any info about Ernest's parents or birthplace, or Constantine's location from 1852-1864, would be welcome!
