Miracle y-DNA Special Pricing

Family Tree DNA is offering a temporary special price on 37-marker y-DNA tests ordered through the Markle surname site. Through 31 July the tests are priced at $119 instead of the regular $149.

The Markle Surname DNA Project represents all surname spelling variations such as Merckel, Miracle, Maracle, Merkley, and many others. To date, the Project has received 8 test results with two more pending. Even this relatively small sampling represents huge family lines from New York, Pennsylvania, the Southern US, and Ontario, Canada. Over 1,000 individuals have been identified in our pedigree lists with many more to follow. If you have a Markle line in your family history, it's likely you'll connect to one of these pedigrees.

If you have a living male relative with the Markle surname or any of the many spelling variations, this would be an ideal time to order a y-DNA test. Visit the Markle Surname DNA Project website at the link below to order a test kit, review pedigrees, and see y-DNA results posted to date.

http://www.worldfamilies.net/surnames/markle

A Crack in the Miracle Pedigree?

Many Miracle family trees have long shown a connection to 1710 Palatine immigrant Friederich Merckel of Ulster Co., NY. Recent DNA testing now indicates that this may be an error, but additional test samples are required for proof. Fortunately FTDNA is now offering special reduced prices for testing when ordered through the Markle Surname DNA Project at WorldFamilies.com.

The Markle Surname DNA Project was established to catalog pedigrees and matching DNA test results for all Merckel lines (including Miracle, Merkley, and others). The site now includes pedigrees of seven immigrant patriarchs ca 1700 and nearly 1,000 of their direct descendants prior to 1910. Please visit the site's Home Page using the link below. You can search the pedigrees for your own ancestor by clicking on the Patriarchs link. If your line is not yet listed, you can post a simple pedigree by clicking on the Pedigrees link. Join the project and order a DNA test kit at the reduced price by clicking on the Order link. If you already have DNA test results or if you have questions or need help, the project administrators will be happy to assist. Contact information is listed at the bottom of the Home Page.

http://www.worldfamilies.net/surnames/markle/home

That's a tricky one. I am a Miracle and I do know that my roots are from Spain. The word miracle means the same in English as in Catalan -the spanish would be 'milagro'- and my ancestors are from Catalonia, north-east of Spain.

Many of the Miracles in the US are bastardizations of other names (Merrikle and such).

Hope I have helped, since this post is quite old, I hope you are still there!

Re: James Crow Miracle bn 1828

"I've found my 2Ggrandfather-in-law "James Crowe Miracle was killed by looters during the war between the states." This surely made the papers?"

Don't know if you'll ever see this reply, but he was my g-g-grandfather. His son w.s. was my g-grandfather. I've wondered about the details myself. The couple things I've read on line about the event are confirmed in family stories. Also, there is a nice bit of "ghost" story associated with the event by older family members ;)

I have read that there was a band of marauding Confederate deserters in that area at that time, along with some of their names, which I don't have on hand anymore. Don't know if there was a connection, but I suppose it's possible.

does anyone know Johnny Miracle? I don't have a birthdate but I would guess about 1945 or so. He was the son of Barney Miracle from Harlan Co, KY, but it is possible he does not remember his father. All I have is a picture of Johnny with Santa Claus, no date. His father was my great-uncle.

Did you ever find your Henry Miracle's parents. I found the children in the 1920 Census without Henry and the mother was Rosa E. On Dillard's death record it says his mother is Bessie Miracle and on Linda Jane Lee's death certificate it has Rosa E. Miracle.
On Lee E. Miracle's birth record it has mother Rosa Davis. This could be another Lee Miracle though.
Here is William Curtis Miracle's obit and it doesn't give his parents:
Middlesboro Daily News
Lancaster, Ky__ William C. Miracle, 84, passed away Wednesday, April 22, 1992, at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center, Danville, Ky.
He was born March 8, 1908. He believed in the Baptist faith and atttended the Primitive Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife Rhoda Durham Miracle and one son, Willis Miracle.
Survivors include five sons; Ted Miracle, Evansville, Ind.; Ivan Miracle, Lancaster; Warden Miracle, Lexington, Ky.; Carlie Miracle, Kenton, Ohio; Leo Miracle, Richmond, Ky.; two daughters, Lois Miracle, Miracle, and Lola Delk, Pineville; two sisters, Gracie Bueill, Southfield, Mich., and Juanita Jump, Calloway; 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Durham Funeral Home with the Rev. Marshall Fraley and Elder Kenneth Robbins presiding.
