David, thanks for the response!! I live in Rancho Murieta and we often walk along one of the back roads of the property and found the Miser family cemetery years ago. Did what online research that I could, to learn more about them. I am very interested in our local history. I'd love to meet you on one of your hikes. Keep me posted on your schedule. Thanks again! Dave Manske

PS. Jared Sheldon was my 5th cousin, many generations removed.

came across your inquiry dated 26 Jan 2003. Don't know if you are still interested. I am a docent for the Sacramento Valley Conservancy which operates a 4000+ acre preserve east of Sacramento, CA. Solomon Miser was a pioneer settler on the property and I have obtained some great information about him. It appears generally on index cards at the CA state historical library. These cards document dates, and places, birth, marraige and death (wagon fell on him). He was an early settler, coming out here before the gold rush by one year. Was a slave driver and wanted to change to horse ranching. Going back to OH for Isabella and their brand new kid. Gold was discovered and since he knew the route, he led a wagon train back out. We have located the foundation to his home and well. Its along an early toll road he builgt with Chinese labor. Got the state to pass a law giving him permission to operate it. got that, got one of his grant deeds. Also obtained photos of him and his immediate family. We also have the family grave site although vandals have destroyed much of it. Don't know how much info you have obtained, but I am very much interested in sharing. I give lectures on the subject once a month or so on hikes across his land from January to June. David Scharlach

Greetings Michael,

I suspect Raymond L. Miser born on November 2,1931 in Tennessee and died in Colorado on December 22, 2000 is "10/1 Raymond, born Nov. 2, 1931." He is on page 821 of the 1986 book and indexed under surname GOINS. Note, none of Sophie's children show a surname unlike elsewhere in the book.

I do not know if Sophie was ever married to Tennessee Goins. In the 1930 Federal Census Sophia (age 17) was living with her widowed mother in dwelling (and family) # 81 and Tennessee Goins (age 55) was living in dwelling (and family) # 86, with his wife Carrie (Civil District 11, Hancock County, Tennessee).

Raymond Lloyd Miser is buried in Kremmling Cemetery, PO Box 538, 14th & Eagle Kremmling, CO 80459. He served in the Korean War (U.S. Army).

Regards,

Charlie

Historian & Director, Meisser Genealogy Association
I have 1930 census information that shows that there was a son Thomas A Miser. I never knew my grandmother so I don't know where she lived after 1930.
