Hello
I am researching my Piske family (Paskey, Peske, Piskey or similar spellings). Berta Piske (married a Koppen) says in her obituary that she was from Zemmin, Pommerania. Her brother Will Piske married a Mary Mittelstaedt. I wonder if this is the same Zemmin, Pomerania. There may be a connection, that the Mittelstaedts came from the same area of Pommerania. Many Mittelstaedts settled in Sauk County and so did the Piske's.
Richard Kilmer rrkilmer@wisc.edu
They were the parents of Wilhelm August Jahan Streeck who was from Zemmin and came the the US in 1885. Any conncection? Sue

I have information on this family, including access to a family picture. I haven't made a link to this family, yet but suspect that there might be one, as my ggg-grandmother was a Mittelstaedt married to William Schultz whose family also settled in the Ridgeville area of Monroe County, WI. I still belong to the church that all these people belong to.

Albert Ludwig Mittelstaedt and Pancho Villa

Albert Ludwig Mittelstaedt born Murbensfeld, Arnswald, Brandenburg, Germany 15 Mar 1885 married to Emma Helen Tirch also of Arnswald were supposedly brought to the USA by the US Government without actual immigration records so that Albert could serve as a military advisor to Ferdnand "Pancho" Villa during the Mexican Revolution. He resided in Yuma Arizona at that time but the only record I have found so far of him is the 1930 Census in Fresno, California. Both of his son's were listed as being born in Arizona. All of this is family legend, but the birth of the two son's and lack of any immigration records certianly elude to some creedance to the legend. Anybody know anything about this man?

Mittelstaedt family in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin

I am looking for anyone who might be researching the Mittelstaedt family in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. Wilhelm Mittelstaedt came to America in 1873 and went directly to Fond du Lac. A year later, either his brother or cousin, Frederick, followed suit. Wilhelm died in 1877, and his family moved to Waupun.

Fred and his young bride Caroline Kuschinski had 10 children. She was a runaway from her large family in Berlin. I believe the Mittelstaedts came from Thuringen.

Fred's father was Jacob Mittelstaedt and its believed his mother's name is Rosalie. Fred was born in 1849 and died in 1913.

It is common the name was also spelled Mittelsteadt, Mittelstadt or even Middelstadt.

I am trying to find where August Mittelstaedt died. He died on October 1, 1935 per the Dept of Veterans Affairs. They would not divulge where he died. I heard Ohio or Indiana. He was a son of Fred Mittelstaedt & Caroline Kuschinski.

August was born in 1880 in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin and married Mary (Krenn) Gehl in 1903 there. They had 2 children: Emma and Marie. Emma died in 1914 and Marie was last heard of in 1954 in Chicago, but then she disappeared.

August served in World War I. Is there anyone who knows how to locate a veteran that may or may not be buried in a national cemetery? August is a veteran and there must be a way to locate where he died.

I don't know if the Dittberners are related to me either; just searching for connections. Are your people from Calenberg like the ones that I found? It's possible that Ferd. August 3/24/1848 is same person as August Ferd. and possibly thats the baptism date and the DOB was Aug. 6, 1845 if yours are from Calenberg, that might make some sense. Whats your thoughts on things?

Thanks

I have traced my ancestry back to a Ferdinand A. Mittelstaedt who was married to a Wihelmina (Kloppstein) in Prussia, Germany. They immigrated to Portage, WI and had six children: William Carl (2/15/1844-4/2/1914), Ferdinand August (3/24/1848--5/25/1921), Augustine Wilhelmine (married Johann Carl Wilhelm Wedel 3/19/1876) (12/19/1853--6/13/1915), Gustave Ludwig Mittelstaedt (9/4/1856--?), Emilie (married Eduard Schiefelbein) (b. 10/1850 in Neu Warrow, Pommern) and my great grandfather, August Ferdinand (2/27/1860 -- 1927 in Milbank, SD)

Mittlesteadt

I once bought a box of miscellaneous items at an auction. In that box was an old autograph book, which had belonged to an Arlene Mittlesteadt of Montello, Wisconsin, and was dated 1933 and 1934. Could this be any connection to those that you are searching for? I would like to get this book to someone who is related to Arlene. I bought the box at an auction in Bozeman, Montana, so she may have moved here at some time in her life.

August Mittelstaedt Family

August Mittelstaedt was married to Amelia Graves. Both were born in Germany. To my knowledge, neither of them came to America.

I know of the following children:
*Wilhelmina (1847-1904) was born in Obernick Posen, m. Wilhelm Schedler
*Anna Augusta (1852-1893) was born in Posen m. William Schultz
*Julius John (1854-1945) was born in Germany, m. Ottilie Kietzman
*William Ernest (1863-1933) born in Posen, never married
*Christina -no very little other than some family lore that after Anna Augusta's death, William Schultz married her, as she had also been widowed around the time that Anna Augusta died. They had twin sons, which Christina died giving birth to. These were taken in by neighbors, and eventually adopted out.

All of these settled in Monroe County, Wisconsin.

I would appreciate learning any more information about this family.
Mittelstadts from Germany/Wisconsin

Searching for more information on the following individuals:
Charles(Carl) Mittelstadt-(Note: Mittlestadt family name has been spelled many different ways) who married one Louisa Fergins(Seering)both born in Germany. Charles parents were Charles Mittelstadt and Augusta/e Liebenow or Leebenow both born in Germany. Family resided in Dodge County Wisconsin, Brownsville and Lomira Township.
From what I can tell there were at least 3 Children.
Josephine who was born on Jan 19, 1897
Lena Rosa who was born on Feb. 14, 1911 and Martha L. Mittelstadt(Brendel) who was born on Oct. 15, 1891. Charles Mittelstadt died on December 21, 1910.
Martha L. Mittelstadt married Rudolph Brendel possibly in Milwaukee Wisconsin. To Martha and Rudolph their was a son born, Rudolph Brendel Jr. born in Kenosha Wisconsin on July 23, 1925 and sometime after his birth Martha, Rudolph and Rudolph Jr. moved to Chicago IL. Up until the middle of the early 1950's there were 2 other family members from Wisconsin who were involved with Martha and Rudolph and often helped them out but I am not sure if they were Mittelstadt's or Brendel's and their names were Otto and Estelle and it is believed that they resided in Pewaukee or Milwaukee Wisconsin. It has been said that Otto left some inheritance in a will or deed for Martha's daughter Sandra. Estelle may have married a gentlemen with the last name of Cox or Fox and she may have had a daughter named Bonnie who was called Bunny.

And help in the way of information on any of these individuals would be most appreciated.

Bonnie A.
My email address is DSchill155@aol.com and I am researching the surname Dittberner and people married to them. I have found in the German films I am working that the above couple had August Ferdinand Aug. 6, 1845 in Calenberg. Found the marriage of Friedrich Gotthilf Dittberner from Calenberg, 27 yrs. old and bride: Charlotte Wilhelmine Mittelstaedt, 24 yr. old. Father of Bride: Friedrich Mittelstaedt from Calenberg. Let me know if this helps and contact me.
