I know that you said Euchariste or Charis. However, this is the only marriage record in Maine that could possibly be your couple. Note where Leda was from. Oftentimes, the names got messed up.The surname Dechauir does not appear in any LDS records.

Hi, I am looking for anyone who can help me with the family tree of deschaines. I have tried to find my ancesters on my grandmothers side of the family and have not been able to make any progress. My grandmother was the daughter of Euchariste Deschaines or also was known as Charis. I have not been able to get any record of him. I was told he lived in Grand Isle Maine and his wifes name was Leda Beaulieu but the only thing close to this belonged to the name Joseph and I was wondering if anyone out there knew whether or not this was his real name or did he go by another name. My grandmother never had a chance to really talk about them, but I do know that she had siblings and their names were DELIMA,GERARD,MARIE,RITA,AND WINNIE. Someone please help if possible.

I'm still in the process of updating the Gamache Family Genealogy and need some information on William Fredrick Gamache and Annette G'Sell. If anyone can help me out I would appreciate it. I need dates of birth, dates of deaths and marriage dates. What I have are conflicting. First I had that William was born in 1859, then he was born in 1849, then he was born in 1846 and I had that Annette was born in 1865, then she was born in 1855, then she was born in 1846. I have their date of marriage as 1897, but I have that their first child Cora was born in 1869. I am very confused. Please reply ASAP as I am almost finished with my updates. Joseph's parents are Guillaume MIVILLE dit DESCHENES and Marie Anne BOUCHARD who married on 1745-07-26 Rivière-Ouelle. [Guillaume and wife Marie Madeleine Soucy dit Lavigne are my 6th great grandparents)

Parents of Guillaume are Jean MIVILLE dit DESCHENES and Marie Madeleine DUBE who married on 1691-05-13 Rivière-Ouelle.

Parents of Jean are Jacques MIVILLE dit DESCHENES and Marie Catherine BAILLON who married on 1669-11-12 Québec .

Parents of Jacques are Pierre MIVILLE and Charlotte MAUGER who married on a unknown date at an unknown location before the end of 1632.

Looking thru the RootsWeb.com site I saw a person named COTE inter some info I do not think is correct. They show François b.5/16/1634 m. 8/10/1660 Marie Elisabeth Langlois (1646-1687) having a daughter Françoise Marie Miville Deschenes ( I show her as Marie Françoise) b.1/18/1694 m. Prisque Boucher. This daughter belongs to François and his second wife Jeanne Sauvenier m.11/7/1692,,,,,François and Marie Elisabeth Langlois did have a daugher Mare dit Deschenes Mivill m. Michel Gosselin.

Hello!
I am also working on the Deschenes family tree - Quebec - Ontario. I have found that church records and census records recorded in the early 1900's were poorly done. It looks like whenever the priest or census taker could not understand the spelling of a french name, they wrote it out phonetically!. From my grandparents marriage certificate this was very clear and the same thing may have happened to your family regarding the spelling to DeShane. On the marriage certificate the priest spelt my grandfather, his father and his sister ( withness) with DeShaine.

Hope this sheds some light on the problem with record keeping. In all likely hood you should be a Deschenes. First names wree also changed....my great grandmother's first name was Cynova Labell but she is listed as Sarah!

I can find him in the 1880 census in Ogdensburg living with his son John under the name Maveal (on the census). Any information about him or his family would be greatly appreciated.

I too am descended from Charles Mainville and his first wife Madeleine Brisbois, Through their son Jean Baptiste. I have many relatives still in the Fort Covington area. the Mainville name is another varient of the Miville name and by looking at some of the old census records the name was pretty much spelled phonectically therefore allowing for many variations even in the immediate family. Miville Minville Mainville Maville, and the dit of Deschene to Deschenes to Duchane and so on. charles Mainville was born abt 1794 to Charles Nicolas Mainville and Genevieve Cediliot. I've seen the name Rouville thrown in there from time to time. I speculate the Rouville may be an indication of where this family was from, the Rivierre Ouelle. Of course this is just theory and not fact. Any way, Charles Nicolas's father was Charles Jean MIVILLE, married to M. Josepht Boisjoli dit Griveault. this is your Miville connection.

I paid around $11 or $13 to get the Line of Catherine
DeBaillon to Charlemagne. Recently deceased Rene Jette,
John DuLong, Gail Moreau & others worked for around
two--three years with people in France to substantiate
the right Lines, I got this from the Quebec Genealogy
Society.

The People working on it also looked into Pierre Miville.
NOTHING could be found to prove the Parents of Pierre
or wife Charlotte Maugis. No proof has EVER been found
that holds up.

My MIVILLE Family were also called Mainville & later
in U.S. Mayville. However, most of the Quebec records
have them as Miville but a very few have Mainville & Miville
both for the same Family. Mine go back to Jacques Miville
& Catherine deBaillon. I do have two from his brother
also Francois Miville.

I am looking for any information regarding Steven or Stephen Maville, born in Canada in 1805. Steven was my husband's gr. gr. gr. grandfather. We do know in 1880 he was living in Ogdensburg NY with his son John. That John, my husbands, gr. gr grandfather was married to Caroline Scott. I cannot find Steven anywhere else including the Canadian genealogy index. According to the 1880 census (US) he was a widower, born in Canada, his parents were born in France. Any help is appreciated.

The father of Pierre Miville dit le Suisse was Issac Miville, b Fribourg, Switzerland, son of Jacques Miville. Mother of Issac is unknown. Issac married Salome La Mene (Lomene) in Fribourg abt 1551. Issac was born the same year.

Charlotte Maugis was born of Alphonse Maguis (b. abt 1560) and Louise de Marle (b. abt 1560 in Chartres, Eure-et-Loire, France) She is buried at Montfort, La Morille, France. Her parents are Mathurin de Marle and Anne Bizet.. By the way, Louise married Alphonse de Baillon Mother of Catherine de Baillon who married her cousin Jacques Miville dit Deschenes

Pierre Miville's parents were Isaac-François Miville, son of Jaques Miville, b. ca 1530, b.in 1551, in Fribourg, Switzerland,d. after 1605, France and Salome Lomene, b.1555, in Fribourg, Switzerland. The married in 1594, In Fribourg, Switzerland.
I only have the father of Charlotte Maugis, Alphonse, b. 1560, in Monfort, Chartres, France, d. 1608, in France. He was son of Nicolas Maugis and Huguette Prieur. No dates and places for them.

Both Cyprien Tanguay and Drouin state Octave Crémazie as a direct descendant of ancestor Pierre Miville (dit le Suisse).
I have found elsewhere Octave Crémazie to be the son of Jacques Crémazie and Marie-Anne Miville-Deschênes, married before 1810 in the province of Quebec, Canada.
