Julius: in your message from 2003 you said that your grandfather's uncle moved to the United States in about 1860. I found a man named Joseph Mlodzik, who was born in 1854 and moved to the United States in 1884. Could this be the right man? See my data at:
http://awt.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=gungaz...

His daughter Catherina said she was born in Sypniewo, which is the town you named in your message on Ancestry.com on the Mlodzik board. Please take another look at the board, because Joseph's grandchildren have posted messages there. I hope you can make contact with your American relatives. I'm sure they would be very happy to hear from you.

Deb Gunther

Re: Mlodziks in Deutschland, Poland

One of my fellow researchers places Frank (Francis or Franciscus) as a brother to my ancestor, Joseph Mlodzik, who settled in Princeton, Green Lake Co. WI. I have no proof of this, and I think that obituaries may give us more information, though the ones I do have don't name brothers or sisters. My information on my ancestors' births came from LDS Family History film # 585811. Frank married Josephine Thomas or Thomes, and there was another Joseph Mlodzik who also immigrated to Minnesota (Duluth), who was married to a Florence Thomas, which makes me think those 2 families might be related. It's possible that Frank and Joseph may be cousins to my ancestors.

Hi,

I just got a copy of my father's birth certificate. The original spelling of my name is Mlodzik.

He was born in Plocicz , a small village by Kamin county of Zempelburg. His father is Jozef Mlodzik - born Feb 13, 1902. His brothers were named Albert, Hans, Murks (spelling?) and his sister was Edmunda. I have no further information on them.

If this information means anything to anyone or knows of more Mlodziks from that area, I would love to hear from you.

Thanks,
Sonya

I believe that both names probably mean the same thing. Mlodzik means "young man" in Polish, therefore it does not necessarily mean that any 2 Mlodziks came from the same town. They could have originated independently in different places at the time when surnames were being assigned.

Deb Gunther
Mlodzik board manager

This is great. We have also been trying to trace family roots but have had trouble doing so. My brother, Michael Mlodzik, has assumed this role for us and has some information. Frank's surviving grandson is Donald Mlodzik. He lives in Fullerton California. Michael is in Idaho. His last email address was mlodzik@ida.net. Donald has no email. Between the three of us we could probably fill in some information for our branch.
What would be helpful first?

Greetings, and welcome to the board! I have been trying to make contact with your family for awhile. Most of us settled in Wisconsin, but your ancestor Frank (Franciscus Xavier Mlodzik) settled in Minnesota and we don't know much about his descendants. He was born December 03, 1871 near Naklo nad Notecia (Wyrzysk), Bydgoszcz, Poland, apparently the youngest of the 10 known children. His parents were Michael Mlodzik and Marianna Jaszezyka. Check out my database at:
http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&...

I would love to share information with you and your genealogist brother...

Deb Gunther
